K and N + MAF

Sorry if this is a repost, but my friends are giving me mixed answers and i just want the truth about the matter. Is there any corolation to having a K and N drop in filter and my MAF going bad last week. I got the MAF replaced at the dealer at no charge and they didnt say anything about the filter, however they put in a paper filter and gave me a box with my k and n in it. I have been hesitant to put the k and n back in becuase the car feels like i added a freeking supercharger ( just a new MAF). Is there any reason for me not to put the k and n back in, or are they known to make MAFs go bad? If anyone else has had this problem, let me know. By the way, i have had the k and n for about 7000 miles and i have 60000 on the car now. I just want to know if the two things have anything to do with eachother. Thanks

I went through three MAF before I put in my K&N panel; since then, I have been on the same MAF for three years with no sign of it going out (knock on wood).

My MAF blew after I installed my K&N drop in filter and I also had it replaced under warranty. I did how ever put my K&N back in and have had no problems since. I've read that over oiling the filter could be one of the main causes of our MAF problems.

You morons use too much oil, if in fact it IS the cause of the maf going bad.

Supposedly if you over oil your K&N it may give your MAF problems. The oppinions vary quite a lot on this though.

I've used K&N's before (on other cars) without any problems. So I owuld guess it's just our MAF's.

I've had 2 K&Ns on the car, a panel filter for 30K and a cone filter for 10K, and I have never blown the MAF.

Do oiled filters increase the likelihood of blowing the MAF? Yes.

When your MAF dies because you have a K&N filter in there, was it because of the filter? Not necessarily.

The MAFs that we have are known to be notoriously fragile, some have even blown em with the stock intake and filter. If its gonna die, its gonna die.
