60,000 mile maintenance

Just hit 60,000 on Monday. Should I take the car to the dealership or can I do the maintenance myself? Can you guys tell me what needs to be done at 60,000?

IIRC, there is a list of what has to be done for the 60k maintenence in the owner's manual or FSM. You could use that as reference to DIY or take it someplace that charges more reasonable rates.

Don't have the owner's manual anymore. If I call the dealer they should be able to tell me what they do and then I can take care of it.

Or you can break it down piecemeal. If you feel comfortable doing some of it yourself, do it. On the parts that you are less familiar with you can take it to a local shop who may charge you lower rates and might be able to do the work with your parts/fluids.

I just had the dealer fax me a copy of what the maintenance consists of. Seems pretty easy. I might have to take it to the dealer to replace the in-cabin air filter.

No, there is a write-up on that on Housecor's website. I'll get it.

Fixed! If I hadn't posted it, someone would have.

No problem. Besides I like giving Puppetmaster a run for his money!

There isn't anything on the 60k maintenance that you can't do in your own driveway in an afternoon. Do it yourself, save a lot of money!

Speak for yourself, fella. Some of us don't have driveways and our parking situation doubles as a ski slope in the winter.

If you have Auto...you may want to pay dealer/reputable shop for AT flush.
Same goes for the coolant. Do *flush* on both.

You can do both on your own, but it does require a driveway, fluids, time and etc. Find dealer service coupons and have both done for under $200 total.

I know what you mean, I moved to Philadelphia and have been dealing with street parking for almost 4 years now. Despite my best efforts, the city has literally destroyed my car. However, I have friends who have driveways, so I head over to their houses with beer or food and usually it works out.
