well.. i wanted to put seafoam in my car tonight... but seeing as i'm a retard... I can't get the hose off of the connections AT ALL. I got the hose clamp out of the way... but I can't get the rest of it unconnected. I tried using pliers and twisting it to break it loose... but no luck... What can I do!?

I don't see how lube will do anything... since the hose is about an inch on the connection... Lube on the tip of it won't do much.

 

pull harder....the hose is rubber, it can't be stuck on there to the point where you can't get it off....and holy crap there's a lot of seafoam threads....why didn't you post it in one of those?

 

Ya know... I thought of that after I posted it... It can be deleted if anyone wants. But I was pulling pretty hard... I don't think I'm going to be able to get it.

haha...as for the hose, just take your pliers and grab it where it's not connected to the metal tube, and pull really hard...that's the only thing you can do besides cutting it, because like you said, it's on there a good inch and you won't be able to use anything to lubricate it....it will come off with the right amount of force; trust me...

 

I don't need to worry about the old crappy hose cracking or breaking or tearing or anything of the such?

 

I just did the treatment about an hour ago. I took some tugging, but it came off. Dont worry about it just use a moderate amount of force.

 

if its going to tear or break, then making it happen is just better so you can get a new one instead of being stuck somewhere with no brakes and a vacuum leak so big the car doesnt run.

 

to loosen it up, twist the hose left to right before trying to lift straight off.... twist and it will loosen... and OMG, the SEAFOAM threads this week!!!!!!!! LOL

 

Ok, here is how you get the hose off.

Step 1: Penetrating Oil, find some at your local parts store, spray it up from the bottom and let it sit for a minute(it will penetrate).

Step 2: If that does not work, grab a small screwdriver and stick it between the hose and the thing it connects to. Wedge it in there in a few places to losen it up.

Step 3: If Neither Step 1 or 2 Worked, cut the hose off, go get a new one at your local parts store(we did it this way on my friends 240sx and the replacement hose cost $2.04).

If Step 1 and 2 do not work, and you do not want to do step 3, most likely you will have to find somewhere else to put the seafoam in at.

 

Thanks... I work at a hardware store... so tomorrow I'll pick up some penetrating oil... I tried everything tonight guys... i pulled hard as I could... I tried twisting it left and right with pliers to loosen it... I used a screwdriver. I considered cutting it... but I didn't know if this hose was special like the other one. The next hose down the line on the way to the engine has a valve it. I JUST replaced that earlier today... and had to cut that hose off. If I would have thought about it... I would have just put the seafoam in there lol. BUT.... i will try the oil tomorrow... and if nothing else, cut it and replace it. And oh yea... I need another can of seafoam... I got so pissed off and annoyed tonight that I ended up dumping the can into the gas tank.

This whole thing irritated me so damn much tonight... I'm thinking about not doing it at all lol. My dad (a nissan mastertech) just did a fuel system service like 5 months ago... and that is pretty much the same thing, just more expensive. Not more expensive FOR ME... but you get the point

Ok... I talked to my dad about cutting it off... he says that I can't replace it with regular hose, because the new hose wouldn't be a pre-formed hose like what is on it now... the hose could collapse. So... I may try penetrating oil tonight.

 

Your dad's a Nissan mastertech and you still can't get the ish off? Man, you aren't trying hard enough.

 

I thought you weren't suppose to use it in your gas tank? or am I confusing using it the TB maybe? I thought there was a palce that a few people tried using it and really messed some stuff up.

 

There is a sharp-L-shape-tip screwdriver-like tool (sorry for the lack of proper tool name for it) that you could use to wedge between the hose and the pipe... Just wedge it in and then drive it around the pipe until you have gone all the way around and the hose should slip off thereafter...

For me it usually works when I rotate the hose around the pipe either by hand or with a large wrench with wider opening so not to damage the pipe...

 

Here is what it looks like, and I think it is called hook & pick This set retails for under $10...
