H&R to be installed in the front...

Well, thanks to my bratooha Shurik I have a pair of practically brand new H&R springs on my way. If they get here this week, they'll be getting installed next week, along with my new rotors. Now, I believe I'll be the first person to be running this quirky setup (H&R fronts/Maxspeed rears) -- so before I retire the front Maxspeeds, I'll be doing some tests at certain specific speeds and noting on a piece of paper how the car performed. (Also, it should be noted that I recently started running OEM struts up front and HPs in the rear)

Then once, the H&Rs are installed, I'll go back and do the very same tests.

Does anyone have suggestions what tests I should do? Obviously, ride comfort is going to be one of them -- I will see if the H&Rs make any the rider and harsher or smoother. A few snappy lane changes to measure flex. Some twisty roads and highways. And of course those annoying looping/twisting exits.

I'll be noting each category on a scale of 1-10. If anybody has any suggestions, please contribute. I will be doing the first wave of tests with the Maxspeeds this Friday night.

Check your tire PSI and make sure that it's the same for both sets of tests.

Very good idea.

bsetiawan: Don't worry. I won't be taking no corners going 70MPH. It's all going to be done at safe speeds and done during the night time so traffic doesn't affect me.

In addition to ride quality tests I would also go to some empty place (shea stadium ?) and do a constant speed slalom and a skidpad (driving around in circles) at constant speed.

These two tests demonstrate vehicle's handling and cornering abilities but don't require skills of a professional race driver.

Unfortunately, I don't think Shea Stadium is open to the public at any time. I'd have to find another lot.

Shea was open to the public a while back. I was driving with my dad when I was 13...but now they cracked down and don't let people in there.

Why did you decide to go back to OEM struts up front? It also seems that you have too many variables to accurately test the setup. Having said that, good work and good luck.

The HPs were too harsh with the Maxspeeds. Putting the OEMs up in the front softened the ride and yet still kept the handling pretty solid.

Do you think they have any life left in them? I'm considering dropping the front with maxspeeds. Not sure if I should just go with new or if your old ones would be worth it (if you were looking to sell them). Just a thought...

Heh, they're perfectly fine, if you ask me. But I personally suggest just getting a new set for like $110. Save yourself any headaches.
