Do you really have to ask? They were thinking, "Let's make this part dealer-serviceable so that owners won't try to do it themselves."

I tried replacing mine y'day and I couldn't get to it (I have a 5th gen not a 5.5). The plastics underneath the car are a real pain. The easiest way would be to cut them off, but before I do that are there any shortcuts? I can't handle another day of one eyedness

Remove the pop connectors and the bolt on the plastic cover to gain access - no need to cut anything.

check out this useful link:

Just replaced my cracked ones yesterday, bought a "chip no more" clear plastic film set to cover the lens so we'll see how they hold up. One screw, one bolt and one clip to remove each lower panel cover, then two 10mm nuts holding the fog light unit in place, not really a big deal.

On the 5.5 gen theres 2 screws and 1 clip to remove the black plastic, but one screw on each side was rusted tight so i had to spray so Wd40 on it to soak before it would come off. The biggest was that damn clip you have to push in to release the plug. Yeah I see why nissan puts see dealer in the owners manual about bulb replacement

I know I am bumping this thread from a few years back but I cant for the h##L of me get the the harness un-clipped. I got the bolts off and the light is hanging out of the front, but I cant seem the get the harness un-clipped, any secrets? I have tried pushing the tab down and every which way with my finger and small screw driver.
Also, I know PIAA is probably the best bulb brand and I know I need a H3 bulb, but what is the best wattage for a yellow bulb? will these work?

That clip really is a pain in the ****.....well...actually a pain in the fingers......

I usually press the tab down with a small flathead screwdriver. And the only really secret is to wiggle it back and forth as you pull.

55w is the standard bulb wattage for the fogs. But if you buy those for $60, you are nuts. You can find much better values out there. Check out the Luminics yellow bulbs. They should be about half the price.

Check here: http://www.optionsauto.com/products.asp?dept=346

The PIAA ions are $36.00 + shipping.

kgallerie is right - a very small, flat-head screwdriver. The clip that you push against is ribbed. Push down with the screwdriver, then while pushing down, push away from the clip connector and they'll come apart.

Take your time. Once you figure it out, you'll be able to take those fog lenses out with your eyes closed.

I would go yellow. I have the yellow fog lenses on mine but I regret getting the actual yellow lens. I should have bought the clear lens with a yellow bulb. Yellow always looks more stylish than plain ol' white
