Rear rotor removal...feels like it's welded on

Ok so after two hours of hammering the rear rotor, PB Blaster, probably pissing off my neighbors, and a trip to autozone...I was still unable to get them off. I saw two little screw holes which I am sure are used for getting these buggers off. Can anyone recommend the screw size or alternative methods to getting these rotors off?

sounds odd to me. I just used a hammer and beat the **** out of it. It eventually came off. Wish I knew what to tell you other than that...

Hammering would be your best option. Are you hammering at the edge of the rotor and from both the front and back side?

I also used a crowbar ... not the best choice but I tried everything else at that time.

Use those threaded holes for what they were intended for. It will definitely push the rotor out towards you. It is probably a 1.25 fine thread count. Just go get some bolts of differing diameters and see which one works.

That's the best way to remove it. Tighten the bolts evenly until the rotor comes off.

If you are reusing the rotors that is not the brightest idea. Infact if you need to use a hammer at all just tapping lightly around and on the hat, between the studs is the best method.

If yours has the holes, use them.....If you have a local harbor freight go there. They sell a tool you put on those screws and put force on it. You then hammer the "screw driver" and it helps the screws turn. Those screws will most likely strip unless you use the tool...
Also anti-seize is your friend when reinstalling.

EDIT: here's a pic of the tool you will most likely need. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=46978
They will come off with ease, with one of these.

Well asuming that your wheel and lugnuts are off, and there are nothing holding it on but rust.. use some PB blaster and let it sit a minute or two..then using a rubber hammer tap it (not to hard) all around.. I've done it before (not on my Maxima)..I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY if you brake something or hurt any one...............G'LUCK!

I have a Snap-on version of that. It is a life saver. Everytime the screwdriver is hit, it will either turn the head portion clockwise or counterclockwise (depending on the setting). The contact point will be optimal during impact. In turn, the screw will not be damaged.

My Haynes manual just says to use bolts of the correct size and thread pitch...very helpful, I know. If you have one rotor off take it with you to the store and try different bolts until it fits.

just like everyone else said, use those threads in the hub to get it off. just thread the screw in and the rotor will pop right off.
