when is it time to buy a new one

quick question i have had my pop on air filter,(ram after market cold air intake) that is cleaned every 10000 miles for about almost six years now. i know that they say that you can clean these things every ten thousand miles and they are like new but mine looks kinda dingy and the filter pleats, some of them are crooked. i have about 50000 miles on the filter when is it time to consider buying a new one and what are some of the great air filters out their. how often do you throw away your recleanable air filter and buy a new one. i have the after market one that you clean and then repspray with oil. if a new one is recommended is ten thousand miles about right, between cleans. (which filters have higher air flow

I've used a Stillen hi-flo K&N intake on my last 2 cars. The first cone filter lasted me about 80k. The last cone filter lasted me 110k and still looks quite good. It all depends on how well it was taken care of and what the surroundings did to it.
Just bought my 2002 SE last Saturday. I noticed the filter was filthy w/dry-rotted rubber surround. For a quick fix, purchased a Purolator PUREONE air filter PART NUMBER: PA24278. It has blue filter paper, is pre-oiled and cost me $12. Supposedly allow more air to pass while capturing more dirt.

Will eventually swap in a K&N, but for now...

Here is more info...

I'm sure that a new filter would refresh the car, but as long as its clean and oiled.........keep it

If it's a K&N it's guaranteed for ONE MILLION MILES, or the life of your car.
If it's a K&N maybe they'll send you a new one.

althougn its a million mile filter id still replace it, K&N is generally the most recomended, Apexi is good but about $100 for a filter is a bit much.

btw i got a used K&N (about 5k miles, like new)if u want it, came with my berk intake: http://knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=RU-2820

$20 shipped if u want
