BRAKE Light

My brake light comes on intermittently but recently it has just stayed on. What causes a brake light to come on?

Check your brake fluid. It may be low. Low brake fluid sometimes trips the brake light to come on.

No smell of brakes are driving so they're definitely not dragging.

the brake fuild is at the right level.

I'm guessing I should check the sensor that soonerfan mentioned. Sooner want to elaborate on what you were talking about?

look under the dash at the top of the brake pedal...there should be a sensor on the arm

I think these guys are talking about the light on the dashboard, not the actual lights on the back of the car. I'm not sure if its the light that comes on with the E-brake or the ABS light that you guys are talking about though.

no, they're talking about the actual tailights.

No i'm pretty sure they're talking about the "brake" light on the dash when ebrake is pulled.

I had the same problem. There is a little spring pin with a contact on the end, and when you pull the ebrake, the pin springs in and touches a contact to illuminate the "brake" light. In my case, a candy/ gum wrapper fell in and it somehow got stuck in the pin, so it brought it closer to the contact, so my brake like kept going on and off and sometimes just illuminated very dimmly (is that a word? haha) Remove the center counsel (5 bolts, literally) and check it out. its a 15 minute fix. (in my case)

Here is the how to I requested.
