drilled/slotted non major brand rotors are more likely to crack. They also eat away your pads faster as well. If you are looking for to go to a track or just for looks, then get them, but I would just recommend a OEM replacement rotor from Brembo, etc.

1. You get what you pay for when it comes to rotors
2. In those pics, the rotors appear to be solid, single-plate...not vented
3. These reek of cheap Chinese steel contruction.

why did you "decide to get yours replaced?" In any case, I'd stick with OEM or name brand rotors...you only need fronts, you don't need to replace the rears.

Please don't say you want these because they look good

Then all American cars are cheapo American crap? I too take offense to comments like this. Probably half the sh*t you use everyday is made in China, not all Chinese goods are crap.

Also tmaculate1, unless you are going raceing around a track, save some $$ and buy regular blank rotors.

From an engineering point of view, it is a well-known fact that steel produced in China is of a very poor quality, in terms of both material makeup and tensile strength. The upside, of course, is that it is far less expensive than steel produced in Japan or the United States.

It is not a RACIST statement, nor a reflection on the CHINESE PEOPLE. It is a reflection of the FACT that the state-owned Chinese industrial base is not known for its use of high-tech equipment, efficiency, or top-rate materials....it is known for producing massive amounts of marginal-quality materials, which have their place as well.

Nobody says that you're racist if you say that Yugos are sucky cars.....

That said, Chinese steel is just fine for many applications where excellent quality is a lesser concern than price. In the case of car parts, where the parts you use could be a matter of life and death, it is a good idea to go with high-quality steel components.

So let's not get all upset here and start crying racism. You don't hear Irish people complaining when people say that Irish food sucks....

1. I did not say "all Chinese good are crap." I said that Chinese steel, in most cases, is of poor quality...which is why it's so cheap ($149 for 4 rotors.....)

2. People who track their cars almost never use aftermarket slotted or drilled rotors, unless they are at a professional level where the brakes produce such an excessive amount of dust and heat. There is NO performance advantage in ANY situation using XD or slotted rotors on a Maxima...even if it IS a track car.

Yes, I should've mentioned the Maxima part. Maybe on more performance oriented cars they may make a difference.

thanks for the replies guys. as i said earlier, i don't know much about mechanical functions on cars and since i have never changed the rotors, i just figured i would do it since i had the extra cash. i purchased the car almost 2 years ago and have driven about 45K on it. i don't know how they should look when they get bad.

but help me out here, we only need to replace the front rotors and not the rear? why is that? can anyone recommend some good quality rotors for me then?

i've learned a lot from this forum so i really appreciate all the great responses! thanks again.

something like 70% of brake power goes to the front brakes
