From all the YouTube vids I've watched, a Megan Racing cat back and an intake will get you sounding pretty close to a Z or G35. I'm pissed that Nissan tuned the Maxima to sound so mundane while the G35 sedan and coupe sound so exotic. Why Nissan, why?!?

Start with your exhaust...The stock intake can be transformed into a GAB and is as powerful as a INJEN ($250) intake @ about 8-10 whp and it's free....Try replacing those smashed down sections of the exhaust system first, along with a High Flow cat and you'll be highly impressed! Those 3 mods alone are less than $200....on the cheap!
