Would anyone happen to know what the muffler inlet size is? I want to replace the muffler on my 5th gen, but don't know what the inlet size is. Or if anyone can tell me, can i put a 2.5" muffler on it?

OK so i know that the bose amp can work with an aftermarket deck, but will the stock bose sub work also?
(buying just the deck for now because got the infamous "cd error f0" message on my stock HU. Later going to get aftermarket sub, amp and all that good stuff)

5th Gen OEM Exhaust Tip

Where can I locate the OEM exhaust tip that fits around both barrels of the exhaust? I have seen in on other SE models and it gives the exhaust a nice finish.

Thanks!

Another question,

I'm going to replace the muffler on my 5th gen, but the stock muffler is 24" long (including tip) and the one i want to order is 19" long. what would i have to do to make this new muffler have that extra 5"?

There are many different fuel upgrade options.

Check here for more details:

As in add some piping? That sounds about right. Keep in mind the flange at the end of the B-pipe. Is there a legitimate reason you're thinking of changing this thing?

It should work you just need to be sure to get the wire harness adapter for it to work with the bose system. I am running with this currently but looking forward to getting the rest of the system completed.

Yeah, i just need to know where to find the piping. My stock muffler has got some rust holes in it (idk how, i just bought the car last month, but i didnt bother to check it, until a few days ago).

I'd get a used OEM one. Cheaper and effective. I've seen piping pretty much everywhere, AutoZone/O'reily ... anywhere. Or order some from jegs or Summit.

that seems a bit much for a car to have 3 converters a muffler and a resonator.

what are the sizes of the bulbs in my guages in a 5th gen. ive been wanting to do a LED swap only for the guages. ive searched this forum as others also googled the question still no dice. i seen one member here use #74 LEDS. i purchased some from superbrightleds.com but was too small, the bulb would fall out into the speedometer. so my question is would #168 base LEDs be too big?

There is one main converter and 2 pre-cats. So, it depends on how you interpret it.

They have 2 pre cats (1 in each bank if referring to the (02/03) 1 main cat, a resonator, and a huge muffler, so yeah.

Energy Suspension Bushings

Why do my ES trailing arm bushings make rubbery creaking noises everytime I load/unload the rear suspension?

Why does only my passenger side ES control arm bushing squeak when it is humid? The one with the pin through it.

If I had not lost my thousand word explaination on my Maxima problem then I would not seem like an idiot noobie who does not know how to search like I do now.

Hi all,

I'm Steve W, a noob. I have a 2000 Maxima that's running great, but warm. Thermostat, water control valve are new, temperature sensors all check out fine according to Haynes. I removed and flushed the radiator and water came out so clear I could almost drink it.
I know things just get old, and I'm wondering about the water pump (do they ever just wear out) or the radiator, though it's so clean. Any thoughts much appreciated, thanks.

The water pump will usually start leaking when it goes bad, and there should be a mixture of antifreeze and water in your radiator, not just CLEAR water.

Sorry, meant to say, water flushed thru radiator was very clear after I'd drained all the coolant out. In other words, no rust. And nope, there are no water pump leaks to be found. Hmm

It runs warm as in? What does that mean?

Temp gauge approaches hot as I go up a long grade, though it then quickly cools off. The radiator fans come on more often. Even normal position of temp gauge is a little higher than it used to be.

Getting warm up a steep grade typically means there is a bubble in the coolant system and needs to be burped.

I bled the cooling system (bleeder screw located on top of water control valve housing). Is there another place as well? Thanks.

Did you get a new radiator cap? If you still have on the old one maybe it does not hold pressure.

I recently replaced my radiator because I discovered leakage along the top seem of the radiator after I noticed I too had slight overheating going up steep grades.

Thanks for the replies...

I'll look into a new radiator cap. But if coolant seems to be getting from the radiator to the reservoir and back (which it appears to be doing) could it still be bad?

I'm holding off on a new radiator, because I can't see any leaks anywhere. But always food for thought.

My dad has a 2000 Ford Contour, which had notorious water pump problems because the impeller had plastic fins on it, which would wear out, crack off and clog the passageways. I'm hoping the Nissan didn't fall for that...

I've tried my hand at searching around and wasn't able to come up with much. I would like to get new fog lights (mine are cracked) and replace the bulbs with HID bulbs. Should I get OEM fogs or are there aftermarkets that are better / equivalent? Also, could someone give me a link or tell me where I can find a write up on how to install HID bulbs in fog lights please?
Thanks

Can anyone tell me the difference between the "Service Engine Soon" and "Check Engine" warning lights? My "SES" light is on, and all fluid levels seem okay - are there codes I could pull with "SES" as well?

Thanks.

Sorry - forgot to mention - it's a 2K Maxmima...

They both indicate malfunction codes stored in the computer. Some cars, like ours, display the words "Service Engine Soon" on the dashboard, while other cars show the words "Check Engine", with a small icon resembling an engine. You might find that "SES" and "CEL" (for Check Engine Light) are both used around these forums, but they refer to the same thing.
EDIT: If your SES light is on you should have your car scanned for codes.

Yeah, except ours has BOTH, so I wondered the difference. In the meantime, thanks much, I'll check it out!
