No, it only has an SES or Service Engine Soon light. There is no "Check Engine Light." As stated before many people use them interchangeably on this forum.

To be clear...there is only ONE LIGHT which is the SES light.

Hey guys, my names Andy and I'm a noob lol. I have a 01 Maxima and I get a screeching noise when i start my car up (usually on a cold start) it goes away when the car warms up or when i rev the engine it seems to be making the noise more frequently especially when its wet out, it sounds like a belt, any input?

As you said, it is most likely one of the belts.

Check them out and either replace them, or tighten them up.

I'm away from the car right now, but isn't it over to the left, and doesn't it come on with the ignition and then go off when the car starts? I seem to remember it coming on when I had problems with my 02 sensor(s), or... I going crazy :-). While my Maxima owner's manual refers only to the SES light, all my Haynes manual refers to is the CE light. Thanks.

A little help for a noobie

hello everybody, im new to this and appreciate the open ears. i own a 00 maxima 5sp. and the car has 216 000 kms.
ive taken care of it (however i dont know about previous owners, i got it a year ago, 16 *** clicks less)
i always do oil changes (synthetic) i did 2 engine flushs, changed my broken parts and always put 91 octane.
for some reason, my car is slow as hell. when i pass 4 grand it seems to almost hit a wall and not continue to pull as hard. today for some weird reason, it didnt do that on my way to ontario, a 300 km drive. i thought i might have "unclogged" something by pushing my car for so long but i dont know. also, this is rather annoying, but my car will absolutely not pass 205 kms an hour. i know its plenty fast, but i have my rpm around 5 grand and it wont pull any harder! what gives? is this a blocked cat or a bad maf!?
i do hope it isnt an expensive problem
thank you for your ears (eyes?)

I was trying to cenect the clock harness because i don't know why the previous owner disconected. When i was finally done aand turn the car on the SES light turn on and stills like that... any ideas? can autozone turn it of or theres an self diagnosis mode on the ECU? i just to do that on my S14 and it was pretty easy, but i've been searching on the FSM and nothing come up!

Hi everyone. Total forum n00b here, but I've been driving Maximas since 1994 (3rd, 4th and 5.5 gen) and I have a legit question to ask.

I recently bought an A/T 2002 SE, and I keep having Throttle Position Sensor issues. Actually, I should say that I have what appear to be TPS issues, as every time I replace the TPS and do the relearn procedure, the car runs great for a month or two, then the TPS dies again. Could this be related to the active motor mount malaise? What other likely culprits are there for such a failure rate in the TPS? I've read through the forums here and haven't quite found anything that seems to match what my ride is doing, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

Autozone type places will read your trouble codes for free. When you get that P code, return back here with it. I wonder if the SES light runs throught the clock harness and the previous owner did this purposely to hide some sort of trouble.

Welcome. Looks like you might have the VIAS problem which a lot of people might have had. This valve opens up at around 5k rpm to allow more air. Search the forum for VIAS fix.

Also....I'm seeing that the forum has a different kind of how to forum. Is there a dedicated part where the How To's are listed? or is the thread the only part there?

Does the VQ35DE engine bolt up exactly into a 2000 se? or would fabrication have to be done for it to fit?

This thread is a good place to start.
http://forums.maxima.org/all-motor/3...edure-faq.html

The 95-2001 engine/tranny set-up is more similar to each other (auto or otherwise) than it is the 02/3.

Any pointers on changing the fluid on an automatic? Car's got 140K, so it's way past due. No issues, just want to do it.

How about coolant change? Should I flush it? Any other "gotcha" I should look for?

Fog Light Question

Okay so I am looking to buy Halo Fogs and Headlights for my Maxi Pad. Would the 00-01 fogs fit? I'm pretty sure that they may be different because they do not pop up anywhere on Google, which is surprising.

P0650 & P0462... maybe because i disconect the Cluster and turn the car on? Autozone already clean the codes and the SES remains off...hope its stays that way

02 garage opener buttons on visor

Does disconnecting the batter clear the garage opener buttons on the sun visor?
I house sit for people and programed the buttons to their gate and garage so I can't test it.

Thanks

Yes, very frustrating! They had some major server/vbulletin issues a few years ago and all the links went bad. If there is a green (-) next to the "How To" item, it means the link has been updated to reflect the new address.

Do you have the Service Engine Soon light on?
I'm assuming they determined the cylinder one misfire by scanning the car for code(s). A misfire can mean, among other things, a bad coil pack. You can start troubleshooting the problem by swapping the coil on that cylinder with another one and have your car scanned for codes to see if the problem moves. Then post back here with the actual code(s).
