Revs2Hard has his 00' maxima lowered 2" around on dropzones with a set of SE-R wheels...tires are 225/40/18 (not sure if that's the stock size) and has no issues with rubbing or performance. If you want to see what yours will look like, look him up here, or check out his cardomain.com profile under revs2hard

when the headlights (or parking lights) are on, the side markers are on. when they blinker is on they blink (alternate with blinkers)

If there a way to get both side marker and corner light to blink simultaneously when the headlights are on??

by the way..recently a thread came up about cheap mods for max's... and I finally came around to doing the white clock and cut dimmer wire mod. When I was ready to cut the wires..I thought that I should clarify the wire that you cut (the one that gets rid of the dimmer function when you turn on your headlights) is RED with a BLUE STRIPE running down it. Just a heads up for anyone who wants to try it .

How different are the engines from the 5.5gen Maximas vs the 350z and G35. For the most part the overall engine is the same isn't it? I know tuning specs are different but I'm not askin about the internals. Whats I'm getting at is this. Why wouldn't a turbo kit made for the 350 or G35 mount up on the 5.5gen. Anyone have any input on this. Thanks

the answer is simple
maxima - transverse engine/front wheel drive
Z and G - longitudinal engine/rear wheel drive

I have a 2000 Maxima SE with automatic transmission. I usually can't move the shift lever out of Park without tripping the shift lock button with a screwdriver. I have removed the center console, disabled the air bags, and sprayed the shift mechanism and solenoid with WD40. Occasionally I can get the car out of Park in the normal way (seems to do better in warmer weather), but most times not. Any other possibility beyond replacing the shift lock solenoid? I've called 5 different dealers for quotes on a shift lock solenoid and got 5 different prices - 4 of 5 were in the range of $65 to $110, but one quoted $582 for the "complete assembly", whatever that is. Think this is the shift lock solenoid or could it have something to do with the brake light switch, since the brake must be depressed before you can shift out of Park?

Now I've Been Using Plus Or 89 To Fill My Tank, (2002 Gle). When I'm At 60mph My Rpm Is Usually Just Hitting 2,000 Rpm. Now I Filled Up With Premuim Or 91/93 This Morning And Now My Car At 55mph Was At 2,000 Rpm. Does That Mean Anything? Does It Mean I'm Creating More Power At A Lower Mph? Just Curious Thats All?

Tranny wasn't fully warmed, so therefore in "D", the car will rev a touch higher since the lock-up torque convertor had not locked up yet.

That or your tranny is slipping, but I doubt that.

Thanks for the advice and I will try and do the things you suggested tomorrow. Do you have a preference for the rear sway bar? I m looking at a stillen or a progress.

I currently drive a '01 Nissan Maxima, but I plan on getting another car here soon; probably a Mustang. While I am driving the 2nd car, I want to take the time to modify the Maxima, and get some more power out of it.

I am pretty sure you can do take the 3.5 crank out of the VQ35, and put it in the VQ30 and it'll give you roughly 3.4L of displacement. Not going to go into details on what all is needed with that, but my question lies with Nissan's new 3.7L engine, that's going in the G37. Is it still too soon to tell what all will be compatible with our cars, such as upgrades, and specifically using the 3.7 crank in a 3.0 block.

Does anyone know what else Nissan plan on putting the 3.7L engine in?

Low Beams Not Working

Hi Guys,

New to the site. Just bought a 2002 GLE last week. I had to follow someone home last night and they noticed my low beams were not working. I've been driving with the fog lights on so I had not noticed.

I've checked all four fuses and they are all good. Would both relays/bulbs for low beam go out at the same time? Both high beams work fine. What else should I do to troubleshoot?

Thanks for your help.

Alex

Hey all, I just bought the Mr. Clean No Dry necessary cleaning kit from Walmart. It works out to about $1 for each wash. Have any of you guys ever used it? Does it do a good job?

P0400 - EGR Function (Close)
P0175 - Fuel Injection System Too Rich (Bank 2)

I'm getting these two codes on my 2000 SE. I'm beleiving the 400 code is that the EGR port is clogged and needs to be cleaned but the 175 is that MAF related?

Private shop wants $230 to "replace EGR" Is that reasonable?

Also I need TB/WP service completed. What other parts should be replaced due to this service? (things to replace since everything is acessible)

Rims and Tires

Been looking at all of the maxima rides that have 19s on them. I am looking to get some 19s or possible 18s. I have my max lowered with H techs. What size tires would be best to get if i go with 19s or 18s? I don't want to get any rubbing. Any recomendations for tires if i want a performance high milage tire? Also how much would my speedo be off with 19s or 18s. ANy pros or cons to getting 19s over 18s? Thanks so much

ABS Light on a 2003 SE

I have a 2003 SE with 102,000 miles. I recently changed the front brakes and rotors. Before I started the job, the ABS light on my dashboard came on. I performed the work with the slight hope that the light was related to the fact that the front rotors were warped, and the pads were worn. The brakes work perfectly fine, but the light remained on. I attempted to reset the computer by disconnecting the positive terminal of my battery for about an hour, to no avail. A buddy of mine hooked up an ODB scanner to my car to determine what error code was causing the light, but the sensor failed to find an error, and he also couldn't reset the light. I called the local dealership and found out that it will cost me $100 just to determine what the problem is. Can anyone suggest an alternate plan before I give up and go to the dealer? BTW, my ABS system is non-functional, and I would like to have it fixed before the next snows fall...

18 = 235-245/45/zr18
19 = 212-225/35-45/zr19

- dont know about speedo
- 19 are gonna be heavy unless they are forged...18 are also heavy...but will be lighter than 19's

Reset CEL

Maybe a really noob question but...How do you reset the SES light? Do you need to reset the ecu or does unplugging the negative terminal on the battery do the trick?
