i just had a quickie for those that have cleared their headlights. I searched around a lil bit but couldnt really find anything regarding the different types of lens used, guess it shouldnt matter that much but i was just curious. I couldnt find the lens at home depot so i emailed tap plastic from housecor's website and they sent me this back:

TAP Plastics cuts 3.25" Diameter Circles from 1/4" thick P-95 Matte Finish
Clear Acrylic for the "Frosted" look or 1/4" Clear Acrylic for the "Clear"
look. We have cut over a hundred sets here in the San Leandro store and have shipped them all over the world. The cost for a pair of 3.25" diameter
circles is only $12.50 plus any applicable taxes and shipping charges. Since
these would be going to Amarillo, TX, there would be NO taxes and the
handling charges shipping via UPS Ground would be $6.25. Email your
shipping/billing address to me and call us this morning with your Credit
Card information and we will ship your set out today. TAP Plastics accepts
VISA, MasterCard and Discover.

I saw that housecor got the frosted but does anybody have experience w/ the "clear" look. Ive also seen some people just leave the lens out. Any info appreciated thanks guys.

You can try using 3M Plastic Cleaner & Polish, but a scratch might require some wetsanding.

I wouldn't try windex. It won't do a thing plus it's got ammonia in it.

so i've been out spraying some rubberized undercoat stuff into my wheel wells to hopefully cut out some road noise. I took off my mudflaps for the first time since i've owned the car, and holy hell there was a ton of dirt and leaves. You could have grown a plant with it all!

Long story short, everyone go take off their flaps and clean behind them and the panel. i had some ants and a spider too. a mini-ecosystem, if you will.

Hopefully the rubberized spray will do some good.

IN NEED OF HELP for a wheel package clearance on a lowered max

Hey All~
My question is I have a 01 AE max and its lowered. Just installed the H-Techs, and the illumina's. Will a 245/35/20 wheel package fit with clearance? I ordered the wheels already because the 18's i wanted where backordered for over 2 months, and these wheels are the only ones out there I like on the car. The place I ordered the wheels from wouldn't get this new 20" package in to there shop for a couple of days, so I need anyone who knows if it will work to guide me before i have no time to cancel. Please help me......

Thanks Early!!!!!!!

hey guys,
I just installed the berk intake today...when i went to reconnect everything there were two sensor that i dont know if i need to reconnect. One of them has something like "boost sensor" on it and the other did not have anything. They go into the black plastic structure/box right above the radiator. Do i need to reconnect these seeing as how the stock air intake assembly, which included these parts, is already removed/replaced? also what do these sensors do?

the "boost sensor" just needs to be somewhere near the intake. i had mine ziptied to a wire loom in the area (on my 00. the 02/03 doesnt have a separate sensor for that)
as far as the other thing, are you saying its a wire harness that isnt connected to anything? sounds like the connection to the MAF. its in that black tube you connected to the tubing of the Berk.

Couple of Qs

Is the ait sensor on the maf?

Also I bought my car with eibach lowering kit, how much does this lower it?

It still has stock struts, what should I replace them with, I'm looking for good ride quality/handling comprimise + longerterm reliablity versus some all out racing shocks. Thinking Tokico illuminas. Thanks for the help.

hey thanks for the reply. the second sensor is not the MAF. i already installed the MAF sensor. But the second sensor is close to the boost sensor, and goes into to plstic compartment above the radiator along with the boost sensor. the best i can describe. =/

There are no COLD air intakes available for the Maxima now that Place Racing is out of business.

Headlights & Fogs

Hey all,
I recently purchased a black 2000 Maxima SE with only 75k miles on it. I already tinted all the windows to 20%, but I was just wondering what my options were for upgrading the headlights and foglights.

Now, I apologize for not scouring the forums for information about it (even though I already did do a bit of that).

1) It seems that a lot of people have those PIAA Xtreme lights. Are they really good?

2) What type would I need to buy for my Max?

3) And seeing as how those don't seem to actually be xenons, what are the advantages/disadvantages of xenons and what kind should I get?

4) Finally, do most people upgrade their fogs? What are my options for that?

Thanks heaps for the advice in advance!

^^ Check out that link for the replacement bulb codes you need. They are universal codes, not specific to Sylvania.

I have PIAA headlights and Silverstar fogs. They both produce a clean white light. Silverstars are definitely the best bang for your buck. PIAA makes nice bulbs, but you do pay for it, and the 'improvment' over the silverstars really isn't that noticeable

If you're upgrading to HID, that's a whole different ball game. You're obviously going to need to spend a lot more money on kits - and of course the bulbs on top of that. Advantages are that they're brighter, disadvantages are cost, and if you get cheapers ones, you're looking at glare issues.

If youre on a tight budget, I'd say a bulb replacement will do you well. I think you'll be quite pleased with the upgraded look.

I have a slightly different problem. I have gutted the bose system and I want to use my polk audio 6 ½ components and tweeters. I have my amps in the truck and I spliced into the factory wire harness coming off the factory bose amp, to get sound to the speakers. But seems like the original front 6 ½ and the tweeters that are in the front columns splice off somewhere. So now I don’t know where to put the crossover box for my components.

I’m using a Kenwood HU and two Fosgate amps in the truck. I’m using one amp for the speakers on the doors. Right now I have the speakers on the doors working but I don’t know where the tweeter wire and 6 ½ speaker wire split off at.

Does anyone have more info on this?

So does this mean that even the Injen intake isn't a cold air intake. And if so then what would be the difference between the different brand intakes? Just sound?

the injen is not a cold air intake (despite them marketing it as one).
the difference in all the intake is looks and price. they all have the same sound and minimal gains.

I remember reading a write-up a while back about a member adjusting/altering their stock 6 speed shifter to make it a custom short throw shifter. Ive been searching for about an hour now (i guess not hard enough huh), thought it might be in the how to section, but havent come across that particular thread. Come on veterans help me out. Oh and if you find it in search can u tell me what keywords you used cuz its kinda frustrating that i cant find it. TIA

Any1 can tell me why i can't get my headlights to that bright bule that i'd like em 2 B.

I have stock headlamps and i've used 5500k to my current 8500k bulbs and they just get whiter no blue whatsoever.

Is it just time to break $1100 for HID's or what? If so can i get em any cheaper than that?

A kelvin rating on a halogen bulb is marketing BS, the white light is simply filtered through blue glass. For HID kits check out the group buy section, several sponsors sell them for cheap.

Also, best bang for the buck "xenon white " wannabe bulbs are MTEC on eBay, $25 a pair and lifetime warranty.
