2000: 3.0, 210hp V-6, non-HID head lights.
2001: 3.0, 210hp V-6, non-HID head lights
2001 AE: 3.0: 222 hp V-6, non-HID head lights (but AE'd...)
2002 and 2003: 3.5 liter, 255hp V-6, HID lights.

there's some other differences and I'm probably off a few hp on the 2000 and 2001 models, but there it is in a nutshell.

Bose HU Swallowed CD- Can it be retrieved?

My 6 disc changer swallowed a cd and won't spit it back out. I know for a fact it's in there but is no longer showing when I push eject for any of the trays. From what I was told (happened while I wasn't in the car- lucky for them, unlucky me) it seems possible the cd wasn't put in correctly and might not have been aligned to fit any of the cd trays right. Originally there was an error showing on the display, but no error number provided. After turning off the car and then starting it back up, no more error and cd changer works. I think, however, that I heard a popping sound once, maybe the cd breaking?

Anyway, question is, since removing the HU from the dash reveals the backside of the CD changer section, judging from the how to pics, if I removed the HU from the dash, would the cd or its broken shards come out from the back end? This is assuming it didn't make it into a cd tray. Of course not knowing how the changer is designed, maybe I'm way off base. Just wondering if this might let me get the cd out or any broken pieces.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I've heard the Bose HU is lousy, but no plans to upgrade yet. I've never had any of the problems mentioned about the HU until this mishap.

Trunk pop and lift angle?

I'm wondering, when the trunk release is depressed and the trunk unlocks and pops open, exactly how high does your trunk lid go? My Max had a minor rear end collision (didn't look bad from the outside and the bar under the rear of the car wasn't broken) and the body shop is saying since it's '02, I shouldn't expect the trunk lid to pop open and lift up any. Basically, when I unlock the trunk, I hear the pop but get no real lift. Is that normal?

Mounting points for motor mounts same on G35 motor?

Hi Guys,

I have 3 bad ring on my motor so I decided to replace the engine, the problem is that I found a 2003 G35 motor for cheap and I want to make sure I will be able to install my motor mounts to this block ... I know the mounts for the G35 are not the same because the engine is not in the same position for RWD but does the mounting points are the same.

I really need to get an answer as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help!

I wasn't flaming you. I was telling you straight=up that it is bogus. All it is is basically an electric fan. It does not have the power or velocity to create any "boost pressure" the way a turbo or supercharger does. Anything they claim on their site is bull. NOBODY is having "success" using that, and if they say they are they're full of crap.

There are several things to avoid on ebay:
1. electric superchargers
2. turbonator
3. anything that costs under $200 that claims power gains of more than 3 hp.

ebay feedback is full of bogus replies. Maybe he sold one to his other screen name and then left feedback for himself.....

the bottom line is: there are many, many people on this forum who have done every mod possible to make their cars faster. Not a single person on here would bolt that garbage onto their car - because it won't do anything. It's simple physics.

I seriously doubt that the mounts are the same, since teh G engine is mounted longitudinally and ours are transversely-mounted.

Actually, I might have to disagree with ya on that one...hehe..

I bought a Chip on Ebay, and believe me, I know most of the "chips"/modules on there ARE bs...But I bought this one, that is SERIOUSLY legit..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33597

I've not had the time to open it up and find out what exactly IS inside, but it has added a very noticeable gain to low end torque and Hp

I hooked mine up to my Ecu through my Intake sensor and I really caint complain, I've noticed a CONSIDERABLE differnce....

And no, it isnt those garbage "dummy" resonators u normally see, so you should check it out for yourself sometime

Take care,

Justin

Just some friendly advice for future reference: Don't mention this anywhere in these forums until/unless you have before/after dynos to support your claim. Otherwise you will get flamed to death. No "chip" has been proven to work with the maxima (including the "highly-touted" JET chip) - only the technosquare ECU reprogram has given some gains to some people (and none to others) - dyno tested.

Since you claim it works, I suggest you actually open it up and take a picture of what's inside.....

WTF is the deal with checking the oil? If I check the side of the dipstick with the 'min' and 'max' markings, I can fairly clearly make out an oil level in between those two marks.

But if I check on the back side of that same flat dipstick, it looks as if the oil is much higher on the stick and the level is much harder to read. Sooo whiskey tango foxtrot?

I don't want to overfill my crankcase! I assume that since the stick is designed to only go in one way, there is only one side of the stick (w/the markings) that I need to pay any attention to, and that the other side of the stick always gets random oil smeared on it as I remove the stick from the engine. Is this right?

I recall my old 1982 Datsun pickup also had a cantankerous dipstick as well.

ok so i defitnetly want either a 2002 or a 2003. is there much difference between these two??? which one has a 6speed manual. give me insights on the 2002 and 2003. i just dont see the idea in getting into a more expensive 2003 if it has the same features in motor, interior and exterior as a 2002.

Any takers on my Bose HU gobbling up a cd? I don't know if I'm allowed to repost it so it's question #202 of this thread.

Thanks.

If it's a matter of you finding a good deal on the G35 engine, you should be able to also find a good deal on an engine specifically for the maxima as well with a bit of searching. Many of the 4th generation guys are doing 3.5 swaps, so they're getting their motors from someplace. Maybe try a junkyard or online.

By now, both will be around the same in terms of resale. You most likely will be able to find nearly the same deal on either a 2002 or 2003. It will come down to the mileage and options on a specific car you're considering. IMO, an '02 or '03 is a good choice.

Good luck.

Yes same 3.5 Engine.
The Titanium Edition Package was a new option available only on 2003 SE models. The Titanium Edition Package features a Bose audio system with AM/FM in-dash 6-disc CD changer, front seat side-impact supplemental air bags, in-mirror compass, floor mats and stainless steel sill plates with Maxima logo. It also offers titanium-tint color accents on the center console, titanium-tint accent stitching on the steering wheel and shifter, and alloy wheels with bright wheel finish.

As Nissan puts it

You could be right - I have no actual knowledge of the G35 engine - I'm just speculating based on the FF vs. FR layout of the respective cars. The mounts would probably be oriented in different directions, at very least.

also the intake manifold, ecu, tranny mount, possibly water pump and AC compressor locations and several other auxillary pieces are either mounted differently or are completely different.

There was also the option for the Polished Titanium exterior paint. Only available with the package, but not everyone chose it. The bright finish sucks IMO. It will scrape off.

Hey on the 2000 Maxima, is there a way to retract the rear seat belt into its compartment? The one in the middle that is. Usually , you pull on it the belt and it retracts. Thank you

mine retracts just fine. You can take out the seatbelt compartment, open it, and make sure everything is working inside (the spring, etc)
