Why/Where is my exhaust falling off? 2003 Max
I was driving one day and i heard a rattle, then i heard it some more, put the windows down and tried to hear where it was coming from. Poked around a bit and it's the exhaust, the muffler is secure but the section before that i pushed and moves up and down rattling, thats where its coming from. Didn't expect this but anyway i havn't got a close look at it yet but could someone tell me what is suppose to be supporting the exhaust and where so i know what it is and replace it. Thanks, anyone else had this happen? Its stock exhaust

my exhaust is fcuked, the weld at the muffler broke (98k) and then the support bracket for the b-pipe corroded/vibrated off (~106K). the support for the b-pipe is at the first bend after the cat. you may also check the mounts on the muffler, they may be broken and the whole system is shaking. sand and weld if so. if it is the b-pipe and that is all that is wrong, you way be able to quick fix it, but the b-pipe may need to be replaced. take it to a muffler shop and let them put it on the rack and TAKE A LOOK FOR YOURSELF to see the problem. dont buy any services yet, just know what needs to be done, tehn find the parts online. Rockauto is where i go for nearly everything, they are fantastic
