What if my HID die...

Can I put in a whiter or brighter HID bulb other than OEM dr2 without replacing other parts?

Has anyone encountered the death of HID on gen 5.5 yet?

Thanks.

i concur; but if he wants brighter ones, he should get stock 4300K, because it has not colorshifted yet; the yellowness will give off more light; the 5000K is meant for replacement of a single bulb after it has colorshifted, giving it a slight blue look, but not as much as the 6000k

PM Maximabest, he sells Helios kits and bulbs. Check his threads in the Group Buy section. Brightest = 4300K. Most color without losing too much visibility = 6000K IMO. They run about 80-100/pr I believe depending on the Kelvin rating you choose.

If "taken care of" properly the OEM HIDs on your Maxima should last you the life time of the car.

A pair of 4300K bubls will provide the most output, and will color shift to a nice white 4500 to 4700K.

The 5000K phillips bulbs are also a good bulb, however, they will also color shift slightly to a higher temp.

If you want way more output you should conisder an HID Retro as our reflector HIDs are terrible. You could also go for a set of supercharged ballasts and pump 50W to 70W through your current HID bulbs. Just a thought.

if you currently have stock d2r they're problly 4 years old and has colorshifted quite a bit and output has decreased slightly. get a new pair of 4300k d2r and the output will be brighter but i'll be pretty yellow tho lol i have brand new 4300k bulbs in my tsx projectors and the output is a ton better but they are pretty yellow lol

Thanks for the recommendation and input. I'll try to find the comparison. Blueish seems to have more 'cool' factor, but I'll see how much it decreases on the brightness.

I love this car...
