Air conditioner making clicking/clunking noises?
Err...I've heard a little click or two here and there before when my AC engages different modes, but it was really obvious yesterday when I would switch the mode from upper vents to lower/floor vents. It made like this clicking noise everytime it switched, and made the same noise when I turned it off. It was like 4-5 clicks and you can CLEARLY hear it behind the dashboard disengaging. Like a little mechanism in there moving around a lot louder than it should be.
It's weird. It doesn't sound normal to me. Could my AC Compressor be on its way out? For the record, the car warms up and blows hot air without a problem.

There are acutators behind your dash on the HVAC box that control mode doors that direct air flow. I'm not sure how many the max has or even where they are located since I've never had to change any. Cars like the Jeep grand Cherokee you have to pull the dash, but I've done other cars that you may only have to remove the glove box or just the panel under the steering wheel to acess the actuators. The clicking you hear is just the gears in the actuator. If you can try and located where the noice is coming from. Lay on the DS and PS floor to see if you narrow down where the noise is coming from. Hopefully if will be in a spot that you can change yourself pretty easily.
