"A/T Check" came on..... HELP!!!

in the past few days, the city got hit by a snow storm.
my max got stuck a few times and that gave me no choice...i had to do a lot of shifting between forward and reverse. now the storm is over, but the problem with my max just get started.

when i park my car over night and about to warm it up in the morning...as i turn the ignition all the way just before the point where the car starts, all the lights that suppose to come on show up and go away after the car started. however, my "A/T Check" light starts blinking just before i turn the ignition to "start" position and it blinks a few times after the car had started.

that symtom never happened since the day i own the car (a little>a year now).... is this some type of failure on the parts? or the computer messed up? i believe the A/T Check light will not come on under normal operation.

if any of you guys know anything about this or had experienced this kind of problem please share your thoughts....thanks alot and sorry for the LONG story...i want to make it as clear as possible...

The tranny was, or is in "Fail Safe" possibly due to the slippery conditions. If this light comes on for about 2 secs. and then flashes for about 8 secs. on the next start, then you are in Fail Safe. (tranny is locked in 3rd.) It's in the owner's manual.

Nope, a simple reset will work. Next time you start it, things should return to normal, that is you haven't got stuck (spun tires excessively) in the most recent operating session.

You might want to consider putting some sand in a plastic bag and keeping it in your trunk. You would'nt believe how many times this saved me from getting really stucked in the snow and it would avoid having to rev your engine really hard to get out of the situation when you are stucked, or getting people to push you or even calling a tow truck. I believe a reset should take care of it unless there is some other hidden problem that was lurking around and it decided to show show up at the same time.

If you reread his first post it appears (at least to me) he has already started the car (the "reset") on more than one occasion and he still has the light coming on during subsequent starts.
