I removed the lightbulb that lights my MIL on my truck and replaced the relay to kill my clock to notify me of an MIL situation. Has anyone done this for a max? Makes it much easier to pass inspection. They do not pull the codes to check inspection/emissions near me, only look for the light.
It was really easy on the truck, but then again, i did not care if I shorted the works out.

 

... Or you could just fix whatever it is that's causing your SES light to trigger.

Some inspectors check to see if your SES passes the bulb test which is basically looking at the dash to see if they see a SES light briefly when the key is turned to the "ON" position just before they start the car. I am not sure whether or not they can fail you if they don't see it. That might depend on the laws in that particular state. What I really hate is that sometimes some inspectors just go the extra mile checking everything and end up finding something that causes you to fail. Now you don't want one of those inspecting your car.

 

seriously, why kill the light? you have a 2k1 MAF or something? just search for threads about fixing/bypassing the offending sensor if it's a non-essential one, otherwise, get it fixed. killing your SES light will only make it easier for your car to break down without warning.

 

I understand wanting that light to be off, it haunts me every day. I saved up money to try to fix whatever the light was on for and it ended up costing me about 1000 and left me with the light still on (there are so many damn sensors and cats!)
