Purchasing a new max. NEED OPINION

My brother want to purchase a 5.5 gen. We found a 2003 SE TE 6 speed with no meredian package. The bose head unit is out and replaced with something different nothing special. The car is in perfect condition. It is silver with black leather. The car has 5500 miles on it. That is it. It looks like new. They are asking $16,000. What do you think. They are giving 30 day warranty.

do you guys have the ability to check the car's history with local insurance company down there? coz up here in Canada, if the car is first registered locally and stayed in the city, any claimed accident will show up...it's just a call way...

In your area you can definitely find one at a better price, that car should list for around 12,5 to 13k right now.

If it has ONLY 5,500 miles, they are not asking too much. It's a dealership.

$12-$13k is even quite low for a personal seller.

Where you guys getting your prices from?

If the car is seriously in great shape and miles are low, work the dealer down to where you feel comfortable. If not, walk away.

If its really only got 5,000 miles on it then its definitely a good idea. If not then look for something else.

agree with above. if its below 10k miles which is unbelievable, then i think 16,000 is not bad. prolly work it down a little bit. but if its 50,000 mile area then look harder.

if it only has 5500 miles and is 4 years old i would be very worried. this means that it sat for months at a time without being driven. it could have a lot of problems. there is absolutely no way that a 4 year old car with less than 6000 miles was driven regularly. no one buys a car to drive it less than 4 miles a day...

get the car fax, have it inspected by a mechanic and definitely don't pay so much money for it.

Might have had a cluster swap without progamming the previous mileage back in, which the dealer would be breaking the law. One look at the fluids and drivetrain should tell you if that's bogus mileage.

ECU will also contain the correct mileage and is not falsifiable

I thought the ECU does NOT store any mileage info, and only the cluster does?

the car does only have 5500 miles which was extremely surprising to me. The engine looks new, the leather looks new. There is a new car smell. The sh!ty potnza tires look new. in my opinion it was an amazing deal but we missed it some other lucky person has purchased the vehicle. But thank you for the input.

I forgot to mention above that it had HLSD. Well actually it had the drilled pedels i am not sure how else to tell. There were no other aftermarket parts so i doubt that those were after market too.
