It seems like my 2k auto SE stops accelerating after 120mph.
Is there anything I can do to keep the acceleration and go faster?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Hmmmmmm

NOS, S/C, numerous other engine mods Y-pipe, CAI, etc, etc. If all else fails buy a bucnh of those little model rocket engines and glue them to your bumper, VOILA rocket propulsion. j/k about the last part

Yes! Keep your overdrive button off until you reach 6400 rpm in third gear at that point you should be around 125 when shifting to 4th. The car will be shifting into a higher rpm in 4th so you should pull better in 4th too.

The problem is the Maxima shifts too early (around 5900-6100 rpms, redline is 6500 rpm) and when you are at high speed the maxima will shift at 5900-6000 rpm in third causing you to be at a very low rpm in 4th which is not enabling you to accelerate further from lack of power after the shift at low rpm.

Keep the O/D button off till 6400 rpm in third then shift to 4th by hitting the button and you should see closer to 130-135 mph.

Ofcourse in no way do I recommend exceeding the speed limit.

Thanks for the advice, and don't worry about speed limitIt's another topic.

I will try your suggestion tonight on the way home. But the last time I played with O/D button at high speeds (100mph+) - I end up disconnecting battery to reset computer in the car, because the O/D stopped working properly.

I was thinking that there is some artificial limiter, fuel cut-off or something like that, which is controlled by car's computer, and was wondering if there is a way to reprogram it somehow if that's the case.

I'm pretty sure you've got a rev limiter on there. Ya gotta get a 5-spd to lose the rev limiter. "V" or "Z" rated tires are a good idea, too. Tell all yer friends to keep their hands/arms/heads inside the car at all times... Otherwise, they'll play h&ll with yer aerodynamics. Be careful.

Third gear shifts at 118mph@6,100rpms and I think it will redline near 120-123mph. Do you have extra short gearing?

i know what you can do you can take that auto tranny out, put a manual in then all you have to do is stay in 4th gear until about 130 then yoou should have no prablem reaching 145mph or so. i know this is on the expensive side but it would work.

If you got 16" wheels with your SE, then it's the ECU preventing you from over-driving your tire speed rating.

don't use nos running that kinda speed, not so good for the engine if you spray for a long period of time

tops at 123

Yeah...

I followed a suggestion by using O/D off until the red line and then turning it on.
I didn't actually get it all the way up to the red line, but I think that I switched around 6100 or so and was doing about 117 at that time, or so. Then I topped out at ~123 and ran out of road to go further ( some cars on my way, had to slow down and pass them at 110 )
BTW - my 2K auto SE has a stock 17" V rated tires.
And NO - I'm not going to get a 5speed manual instead of auto - cause of the amount of time that I spend in bumper to bumper traffic ;(
Would be nice to know thogh, is there a way to change the computer settings to alow better acceleration at high speeds.

I've reached an indicated 136mph. Who knows how accurate my speedo is?

My tires on the GLE are 215/55HR16's which have a limit of 130mph.
