i've always wanted the E36 M3s...since...well, for a long~ time...

just came home and had a little run with a E36 M3..
i don't know the specifics of the car, but he was manual, exhaust and had lowered the car..

we couldn't really get a stop-and-go launch cuz i had another bimmer in front of me, so i had to pass the car in front of me and go WOT from the 2nd gear.
it was pretty even through out the 2nd gear. 3rd gear..i was gaining on the M3...4th gear, one car length on the M3...

to tell you the truth, i never thought it could be this easy...but oh well...maybe he wasn't trying...

Don't kid yourself! He was trying if you were WOT for sure! If he had a two others in the car that makes a major difference. On a roll they aren't all that and a bag of chips!

Never drove a M series but I've driven my friends 330Ci and the M's are more than a leg up on this car. Trust me, he either can't drive or wasn't trying.

Why is it that hard to believe a modded Max can keep up or even beat a E36 M3? I just raced one last night... 5 times. All these runs were all 2 block races ( about a 1/4 mile )
1st run: We were going about 40mph. I was just cruising and he kept matching my speed, so I punched it and so did he. Got him by 1 car length up to 90mph.
2nd run: I was at the light at a dead stop, and he kept back about 1 car lenght to get a roll on me. I see him start to move when the light was yellow, so I knew what he was trying to do. I always torque brake when I am racing from a dead stop, so I just launch it! We were dead even up to 90mph.
3rd run: He was at a dead stop and I got the rolling start... got him by 1 to 1 1/2 car lenghts up to 90mph
4th run: We were both at a dead stop, both lauched at the same time... he got me by a bumper ( manual trans ) but I catch up by third gear... dead even.
5th run: We were both at a dead stop and I got a better launch. Got him by half a car.
He did not look pleased
I didn't get a chance to talk to him because he did not look over to me. He kept his head towards the road, so I couldn't even give him props. Don't know what he had as far as mods, but I did see a muffler and it was lowered.
So was he racing? Yes
So was he trying? Yes
Maybe he doesn't know how to drive? Possibly...
or maybe the Max is just good enough to keep up with a E36 M3... is that really that difficult?

hehe...i must have ticked off M3 lovers here....

anywayz...bone stock M3s ran like 14.2-14.4 1/4 mile time slips..which means, if he was bone-stock, there's noway he was going to blow all 4 doors off my car...he'd be faster, but not like smoke-me-and-leave-me-in-the-dust-fast.......besides, it wasn't me who tried to pick a race first anyway...it was him all the way until the very last straight-away before my house...

would i buy the M3? hell yeah, if i had the money!!
