FSTB causes understeer?

I've been without it for a couple of weeks since i took the IM off and swear that the car handles much better without it. Better steering response with good "weight" when steering.

I then put it back on this morning and the heaviness in steering is readily apparent, that and the Max understeers whearas without it the car just feels more neutral.

Is this possible, or am i just imagining it?

The FSTB really doesn't have much of an effect. Mine has been on and off multiple times and I never really notice the difference.......sometimes your mind just knows you made the change and "wants" to feel a difference

i didnt notice much of a difference after i put mine on.. i just did it mainly 4 the looks though cause i knew it didnt do much.. and didnt cost too much, so whatever.. it works 4 me.. it makes the engine bay look better.. increses the hotness factor when people who don't know anything look under your hood.. lol

Jason, you'll be excited to know I picked up a stillen RSTB today while buying a roof rack from some guy. It cost next to nothing so I decided "what the hell."

Installed it and (surprise surprise) don't notice any difference.

BUT, it has those holes in it, so it will be EXCELLENT to use to tie stuff down in the trunk

I've had friends report that on other cars, and basically you could say without the FSTB, the front end could flex more and allow the tires keep a better patch on the ground, however I noticed little to no difference when I installed mine. LTB or RSB, different story.

My car was in an accident some time ago so perhaps my car is flexing more than your average Max. The bar definitely makes a difference, in fact i might just take it off for good... hitting bumps with it off is a much smoother experience as well. Thanks for the input guys!

I just installed the eBay FSTB yesterday. Although the impact on handling is not as dramatic as it was on my 4thGen. I think for $35, this was a good addition. It has improve turn in response.

Additionally the FSTB combined with the RSB has reduce understeer and made it more neutral.

Just my $0.02
