I am interested in buying the Bel STI radar detector since i live in Ontario where radar detectors are illegal. What I am interested in knowing if someone here has a installation which keeps the detector hidden. I wish the STI had a remote installation but as of right now it does not. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

there are ways to conceal the detector in your car but i cant help you break the law.

hint: just look at a certain person's cardomain

Like others, I tapped the wire for the rearview mirror and ran a hardline to the detector which sits suctioned to the windscreen, and resting on the rv mirror, on the driver's side.

You can leave this thing mounted in the car all the time, and most people will NEVER notice it, given that it sits behind the upper factory tint.
Also, you can barely see it from the rear (especially when on dark mode) even when you KNOW it's there!
I had a trooper pull me over one night, and I'm CERTAIN he never saw it sitting there as he approached the car.

Besides a remote mount, or doing sooner's job - this is an easy, and moderately stealthy solution.
