how long did it take you to find 5.5 6spd
My car found me.
I wasn't even looking. I was selling Acuras at the time and driving a 95 Maxima 5-speed with almost 200k. I wasn't even thinking about trading. I was happy with the 4th gen. One day my sales manager tells me to go look at what we just traded in. There it was. Magestic blue with frost leather, roof and a 6-speed. No scratches or dents and all original paint. I just had to have it.
rare? maybe, i dont see many grey lustre 6spds with black interior, but thats how mine came when i got it from the dealer new with every opt but navi

It took me 4 months to find mine. Mostly because i needed to buy from a dealership to get them to take my POS Jeep Cherokee in as a trade cause no one would buy it...
Found a 02 SE 6MT Pearl White with all options except Navi. Only had to drive an hour to the Buick Dealer to get it. It was traded in just past the 3 yrs/36,000 mi warranty mark. It was 3yrs old and had 36,567 miles on it.

It took me a few weeks, I was about to settle for a local automatic, but it got sold the day I was going to buy. I knew of a 6speed that popped up 40miles away but $2k more for very similar miles and now it sits in the driveway.
I looked for 3 months and didnt find a single 5or 6Mt in my area. Finally started looking out of state. Found my Silver 01 SE 5MT with 76000m in Cincy, just north of Louisville, where I live. Maxima _5th were you looking specifically for a 6MT in August? I bought my car from a dealer at the end of August up there.
Hi 01SilverMaxima:
I actually did start looking (casually) in August. You didn't buy yours from the Kings Auto Mall did you? I recall seeing one up there.
I started looking harder after Labor Day or so, but took me until last week to find the right car.
Hope you like yours and have fun driving it!

Started "car shopping" 2 months before buying my max...
honda accord was on top of the list... and i already found my maxima for sale... by a dealer on ebay... price was out of my range... at 9grand + dealer/tax fees for a 2002 6sp
finally... after finding a nice accord with high miles but meticulously maintained... the seller had cold feet and decided not to sell it on the day of the sale when i was 10 min away from his house (40min drive)
and then i had exactly like 5 days to find a car... cause of a new job and such.... couldnt find any accords.... so i found the maxima being relisted on ebay... for a grand less...
saw it... liked it.... the dealer was a bit shady.... didnt feel like trusting them that much... got him to lower the price a bit...and just bit the bullet
it was puzzling at first... as to why the car didnt sell for 2 months... i was really afraid.... but after i bought it..... there arent that many things wrong with it..... just the same stuff that everyone else is experiancing. (oil , 3rd gear crunch)
its been 3k miles since i owned her... hopefully i will drive her around for the next 2-3 years...till i graduate... and get a real job.... then i will treat myself to a nice bmw.

It took me around 4 months of hunting to find mine back in '03, but I was looking for a silver TE 6MT w/ black leather, meridian, bose & no nav. It was a needle in a haystack at the time. Judging by the forum, they're all over these days!
it took me a good 3 months to find a clean black or blue 6spd titanium edition with hlsd. My first choice was the majestic blue but every one I saw was beaten up or got sold just before I went in..I ended up seeing my 03 black/black 6spd at a dealership that wasn't selling for months because it was really overpriced..I went in, showed him how much the car was going for and got $3000 off it and after lots of thinking, I picked it up. It was important to me to find a stock max and this one fit the bill perfectly, I also had to trade in my car because nobody was buying it. The next day I went by the other dealership that was also overpriced and showed him that I got the identical car with only 5k kilometres more for 3k less lol..
I found the one I like instantly on the org, only issue is that the price is a little steep, so I had to make a loan to complete the transaction.
Moment I start looking + found the car on the org + drove to Alabama + Purchase +Complete paperwork + Got the plate = 4 business days.

It took me like 2 months and it happened by chance - I had almost given up on it, and went to test drive a manual acura and the dude just got a manual max from FL. He only had time to wash it and I got it...
I don't think I've searched autotrader ever and NOT found 5.5 6 speeds for sale here. I'll do one now and see what I get...

found my 3.5l 6 speed
Found my 2002 Majestic Blue 3.5l 6spd beauty after 2 weeks with my heart set on a manual maxima. found her with black leather in mint condition, heated seats/ steering wheel, bose, sunroof, 17s all the stock stuff. 85k miles not to bad for a maxima. asking 12,995 online. got there and they were asking 11,995. needed the rear bumper painted i told the guy 10500 without the bumper being painted (cuz i got connections with this brazilian guy who will spray it for $150)
so i test drove it for a few minutes and fell in love. next thign you know i bought it final price $10,500

Took me about 6-7 months .. i was only looking around the Chicagoland Area but in all that time i could only find a 00 5-speed but it looked beat up ... until eventually i found one in a dealer near me .. deal almost feel through because they were asking too much ..
I looked for close to a year for a local car. Heck, I couldn't find a 4th gen OR a 5th or 5.5 gen anywhere around here for a reasonable price, and every time I did, I was always too late, and the car was already gone. Finally, I had pretty much given up on a 5mt or 6mt Max, so I bought a '91 Celica GT 5mt to use as my DD. That was on a Thursday. The following Monday - 4 days later - I looked at the local classifieds and lo and behold, there's a 2001 Max with a 5 speed in there for $5500, with 110K on the clock. I arranged to look at the car that day, and I found to my dismay that it was actually a 2000 model, and that it had almost 112K on it. But to my delight, it turned out to be a LOADED SE, and it drove decently. Despite the fact that my bank wouldn't loan money on a 2000 model car, I went ahead and consumated the purchase for $5000. The rear end looked kinda funny - the wheels were pointed different directions, and upon closer inspection I figured out the back axle was bent. I bought a good straight one from a local junkyard for $270 and swapped it out, fixing the problem easily. I also replaced the chrome 18" rims with some 17" 350Z 7-spokes with very good Yokohamas all around, and then I put new brakes on the back. So, all in all, if i include 6 months worth of insurance coverage and licensing the car, I still have just under $6K total current investment in the car. I couldn't be happier with it!
My search required manual with navigation. It took me 5 months to find one. I wanted either black/black or silver/black, but after so long a search, I nabbed the first one I found--Merlot. The color has grown on me, mostly because the car is SOOOO fun to drive!
I saw it in a dealer's inventory after searching google for the 10,000th time, and I called the dealership in Memphis (I live in South Carolina). He said it was listed on e-bay, and I ended up getting it for 10,300 (his lot price was 11,495--and I would have paid it). So, I flew to Memphis (found the car not quite as clean as advertised--including a SES light and an extra 2000 miles on the clock) and drove the car back home. The dealership owner was on vacation when I picked up the car, so I didn't raise the issues with the salesman, other than the odometer discrepancy.
The dealer returned after 4 days, and he was cool about making it right; especially after I found out that his own salesman had been driving the car for those 2000 miles and using REGULAR GAS!! The SES was for an O2 sensor, which he paid to replace, and I didn't care about the extra miles because of the low price I got on the car.
9 days after I got my car home, I found a silver/black with nav with about same mileage for $300 more in Illinois. I was a little sickened, but I still have a great car.

Took me about 6 months of looking to find mine. I wanted Polished Ti/Black leather TE 6MT in mint condition with low mileage. I looked all over the place and ironically, I eventually found mine at a local dealership.
If you know how and what to search for and accept the fact you may not get everything you want... then they are rather easy to find...
I simply searched google and found a dealership about 40 minutes away (they sold top end luxury cars) that had it listed on their website, with $2k off if you found it through their website. Talking to the sales guy, it was one of the only manual cars that they had in the dealership...
the thing is, it was barried about 5 - 6 pages back in google... and autotrader, I havn't used that since I bought my first car, the simple mindset you have to have when buying ANYTHING, if it was easy for you to find then it will be easy for anyone to find. The fact of the matter is, if you find a page that is barried on google like 6 pages back, then you should be happy, if you find it on the first page, then you should be worried... that is my perception and I always seem to find what i want in a very short amount of time.
The best thing is when you are searching for something and you misspell the name or misplace or remove a letter. That is how I found my 300zx for $800... some dude listed as a 300z, and the 300zx never had a z version, so everyone who was searching for a 300zx would search 300zx, not 300z... he was the only guy listing it has a 300z, so yea... just simply tactics you learn to find information that others can not find... Anything is easy to find if you know how to look for it.

It took me about 7 months to find one I liked (5.5 6spd) w/options that wasn't modded a whole lot. I don't mind mods... but when you're 21 and going into 'debt' over a car....I prefer having an oscai and doing my own work because I can really notice the difference and have a personal relationship with my car
$11,400 2/21/08
immaculate condition & priced to move
CT has tons of 5.5 6spd's for some reason.
I didn't know those existed?
A 5.5 generation (VQ35) with a 5MT????
I've only seen 6spd's. It really doesn't make a lotta sense to me.
I just read another post about 5.0 gen w/6spd's.
what gives?
Ditto man.... REALLY hard to fin in TN

about 2 days, I searched on the yahoo about cars within $15000, then saw 2 maximas that looked good. got the information on the carfax and tested the car. then brought the one that I like.
before I looked at maximas, I was going to buy an audi a6 4.2 V8, but the dealer had sold the car, so I looked at the maxima in that dealer and realized I just need a practical one.

After my 02 was totalled out by the insurance co., it took me only 2 weeks and I had to decide between 3 6 speeds. One was an 02 white only option was sunroof, an 03 maroon loaded except HLSD and navi, and I choose the third one. An 03 TE polished titanuim loaded with HLSD, but no navi and I am glad I chose it..........Drove to Newport R.I to get it.
