programing keyless remotes

2002 maxima gle all options but navi
I have searched this with no luck other than what I already know. The directions I got for reprogramming remotes are as follows.
get in car lock all doors
insert key in and back out of ignition more than 6 times
Hazard lights should then flash
turn key to acc position
press lock button on desired remote
I have tried this numerous times with no success any help would greatly be appreciated.

Try replacing the battery in your remote, if that does not work then it sounds like it might be your "smart entrance" control unit.

After you press a button on the remote, the car should respond with a flash of the hazard lamps. If it doesn't, then the remote code was not accepted. Could be as simple as the battery in the remote. Try the procedure with a remote from a buddy's car (same year Max). Won't hurt a thing, and his car will not be affected. You can erase the program on yours anytime after.

After I insert the key in and out 6 times or whatever the 4 ways dont even flash so I dont think its the remote its brand new. I have one remote that works fine I just wanted to add another one for my wife.

Just because it's brand new doesn't necessarily mean it's not the remote.
