Have u been beaten by a CL-S

Well, this is my 3rd post and I am wonderin how the 00 and 01 maximas have compared to the acura cl-s in street racing. I have a 01 acura cl-s and personally have raced a few 01 maximas on i-95 in Ft Lauderdale and dont get me wrong, they are very tought to beat, but i have beaten everyone one that I have raced.

i posted this on the general discussion and they told me to place it here cause of the years. I am though concerned about the new 02, 260 hp maxima, I saw one today, and its deffinately a sweet lookin ride and has some damm nice features, but unless it gets a auto stick, ill be stayin away from it when my lease is up on the cl-s, and ill be goin back to acura to get its all new 315 hp TL-SX (personally made at Rick Case acura in SOuth FLoida for individual buyers), yes, its very different then the TL-S

I want to know if anyone else has raced any cl-s and how they have fared against them. Let me know the truth and how you felt after winning or losing, cause it was most likely losing,

I messed around with the 2000 CL TypeS which has more horses than mine (2k max SE auto). it was more like a chase in the freakin rain cause he was ahead to begin with. we were in a 30 zone and we started off at the front bumper of my car on his door. He mightve gained a LIL (maybe two ft) as we got up to like 80 mph..but then we let off the gas anyway. all in all...the cl type s is maaad fast..no doubt about it. ones a sports coupe ones a 4 door sports sedan. c'mon now..get rid of two my doors and add like 20 more horses..ill give it a ride for its money

with 315 hp, you can race a boosted max. thats, a fair match.

I can't wait to race one! I don't really think that they are all that. I just came back from the track and one was running exactly the same MPH I am running 92mph. Once I get my y-pipe (who knows when) I don't even see a problem with taking on one.

I recently played with a TL-S and posted it here-http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=73640

I have a good friend with a CL-S and he's only able to pull on me off the line. After 50 or so we're dead even and after my TL-S race we experimented a little on the highway, and I can noticeably beat him every time. Type-S's are fast and should be able to take a stock auto, but from my experiences, a modded one can win. He still has me off the line, but by 100 or so (depends on how well I've manually shifted) I can pass him. The 5spd should be able to take one stock. And while the CL-S is lighter, the TL-S I raced did a little better than my friend did, but not by much. On the other hand, my friend is stock now and if the TL-S had nitrous, he could have easily had other mods.

I've never raced a CL-S yet however I raced a 2002 TL-S twice and won both times. I took it off the line by as much as 1 1/2 to 2 cars and gain on it at high speeds, once I was ahead I kew the race was over.

Re: raced a type-s twice

I too raced a TL-S two stoplight in a row. I knew he was going to race since he was inching forward and glancing at me constantly. The light turned green, I got a good launch and he never got ahead. By 60mph I was about 1/2 car length ahead. We both shut down at that point since the speed limit was only 40. We raced again at the next light with the same outcome. He gave me a huge thumbs up and had a giant grin on his face.

My car is stock, but is a 5 speed 2KSE.

THanks for the info guys, and like i said, i did post it again cause somebody said that people with newer maxs dont go to general discusion, that i should post here. i am not aware why the tl-s wouldnt beat a stock maxima but if u have a 5 speed, im sure if u are a very good shifter u can get ahead of most cars in the class. Yes the tl-s comses with a auto stick but it is certainly no competion for a standard stick, but just wait till next year when the tl-s comes out with a stick and the maximas wont ever be the same.

Re: Have u been beaten by a CL-S

Nope! I ran with one from about mid way through my third gear (80mph) to well into 5th (130+). This was about a month ago. I had a half car lead through 3rd. When shifting to 4th he pulled even. About mid way through 4th I left him. After shifting into 5th he was way way back. I must say the lights looked nice in my auto tint rearview mirror. I think when the manual tranny of the CL-S is available to actually purchase and if they decided to put a manual on the TL-S the performance should improve.
