To those that have removed stock air scoop.....

I just took out the stock air scoop, and I see the white reservoir is left there. I can't take it out for some reason, one bolt is all I see and when that is out, the reservoir still won't come out. Ok, back to my question...should I cover the opening to it with something so water, dirt, etc doesn't get in or can I leave it open as is? Thanks.

There is another bolt on the bottom of the white box. I managed to get to the bolt and sqweeze the box from under the car ( I had to disconnect some connector on the tranny 'cos it was in a way). It was a pain to get from underside but it's doable. Now... there is som write up of someone who did remove the box by taking the battery, and it's tray.

Did i make sense ?... i think not.. but yeah there is a bolt on the bottom of the box and there is a way to maneuver the box out from the underside. Have to remove the plastic shield on the bottom of the engine compartement and disconect one connector on the fron of the tranny(next to the shifter cable).

Well I don't feel like taking it out cuz it seems to be too much of a pain, maybe some other time...but do you recomend that I cover the opening up?

It's not that bad man. It took me about 15 minutes to take it off while my gf was making fun of me swearing. if you wan to keep it you can just take of that black L shaped tube from the scoop to the white box(silencer?) so you don't have the hole facing upwards. If you're concerned about liquids collecting there ( I don't see how they can do it) i would just drill a drain hole in the bottom of the box.

Yeah am an enthusiast now... excitment never ceases,

Max

I would just leave it in there.... it's a pain to get it out. I wouldn't worry about getting stuff in there either....

Is it just a place to hold air? Or does it serve a purpose?

I think it is some sort of a resonator that is there to cut down on noise.... but in actuality, it does not do much at all.... the 2k1 maxima doesn't even have it...

FYI.........there should already be a drain hole in the bottom. Pour some water in it, it should drain out of the hole.
