2000 se computer?

my 2000 se has been a pain in my *** since i bought it 3 weeks ago. it seemed like a pretty good deal to me... 8900 for my maxima with only 72000 miles, power everything, just doesnt have bose and leather. ive had a code come up for an 02 sensor. the dealer replaced the 02 sensor and the engine light came back on again (this is like the 4th time). i know some maximas are know for 02 sensors, but could the computer be toast? it HAS been reprogrammed too.

idk...any ideas?

Seems like a dumb question, but are you sure they replaced the correct one? Also, disconnect your battery for a few hours to clear the code and see if it comes back. I'm wondering if it may be a pre-cat issue. It would help if you could get the exact code and post it here.

It seems to me that given the fact that you are getting codes generated by the ECU for oxygen sensors, that tells me the ECU is in fact operating correctly.

I don't think you should confuse a code that you can't seem to correct with a bad ECU. The device doesn't lie, there is a problem it sees and you must correct it. Search the threads on 2000 Max O2 sensor problems. There is lots of reading, many others share your pain.

They could have replaced the wrong one, or it needs multiple ones, or they failed to clear the codes. Replace both primaries and toss some headers and O2 sim's on that bad boy

Disconnecting the battery for a few hours won't reset the ECU, it's more like several days. Give it a try.

A few hours will reset the codes, but for the ECU to ‘reset’ it takes couple or three days. By ECU reset I mean it resets everything, including LTFT’s, STFT’s, & eTB trouble codes.
