Hey everyone, I am the buddy that Serg here is talking about. For those who dont know me, I took pictures of Serg's car, one of which is in your 2008 Callendar.

My work ^^^^
Anyway, I asked him to post this, but decided to sign up and look around regardless, see what the community is like, etc.

A bit of info, I work at the dealership where this car is for sale, I am the photographer, driver/transporter, online sales tech, and general assistant. Needless to say, the price seen there would not be what I would pay. I was a bit weary at first about Serg posting the link beacuse I may get this car and did not want someone jumping on my deal. However, I thought again and figured that noone would care for a tan on tan base model Maxima.

My plans for this car would be fairly simple, such as OEM GLE wheels (polished face ones), SE headlights that are set up for HID, with the HID kit, 20% tint, SE OEM altezza taillights, and probbably a subtle drop, nothing to really ruin the drivability of the car.

I am just looking for any other info on these cars such as problem spots, tips and tricks for power/style, whatever info I can get so I am more informed, because you as a community may help me buy or skip this car depending on the info (dont try to feed me biased info either, I wont fall for it).

Thanks in advance guys.

P.S. The philly people should know me pretty well, VJ, Serg, Claude, etc..basically the guys for Team All Out Nissan. I will be doing a photoshoot for them sometime in the warmer months so if you want in, join up!

Whats up man. Your finally going to get a max. Looks like a nice deal. Its even a 5spd. And its the same (or almost the same color) as your other car.

Yea its basically the same color. Im getting it for a different reason that you would think though, I stand by what I said before and this will be true for some time, FWD cars are seriously inferior performance wise ro RWD/AWD ones, especially when they are putting down the power that a Maxima is. I just want a comfortable commuter with some power, but still have SOME sporty feel, hence the 5-speed choice, and going for the newer 222hp 3 liter engine. I want to have something that looks good and drives well, I will probbably just modify this a bit to make it looks a bit nicer but nothing over the top.

I don't really think it's that great of deal considering it's the stripped down GXE model.

I guess if it's clean it's a decent deal, although a bones model gxe isn't exactly my taste. Does it actually have plastic wheel covers?

Those are plastic hubcaps. The 5th gen GXE's came with hubcaps and the 5.5 gen GXE's came with 16" allow wheels.

Im not worried about the wheels or anything, nor the interior, I can have it for 5500, which isnt bad. We just an 02 SE 6-speed fully loaded that will be going for around 13 with 50k on it, thats too much for me though. As far as leather, I can get all work done at wholesale cost, so I can get the interior leathered for about 600

The shifter is also awkward feeling. It has very little feel compared to my civic, in my car you can feel it go into gear and its nice and smooth here its smooth but no feel. its also too long, and I dont like the boot and ****...this can be remedied right??

the only problem i see here is that the deck was not the original one...
the owner might using after market deck, and removed it and put that cheap deck in when he sell the car...

that appears to be the stock radio for a 00 gxe if you did not include the cd player option, but i replaced mine way way back so im not 100%

Good find on that car, i have the same exact model, color, interior, even down to mileage! (when i bought it)

I bought mine from a dealership thanksgiving 05' with 81,480 miles for 9500 with a 12k mile warranty.

I'd say thats a fair price, but does that include any sort of maintenence agreement? Also, double check the coils and MAF and ask for the maintenece records, see if either were replaced...the coils were not covered under the warranty i got, and ended up costing me more than expected.

The shifter felt wierd to me at first also, it was harder to get into first and third gears than my 93 accord, but i think that as with any other car it takes some getting used to. If it feels rubbery, i wouldn't be too worried about it, but if you hear grinding or whining i would keep a side note to bring up to the salesman. Double check the clutch lines and look for any cracking areas where air or liquid has the possibility of escaping. make sure you are filled up with fluid also, that could have something to do with pedal feel.

All in all good luck with your purchase. Be sure to check for the little things before you make a desicion you didn't mean to. I didn't check the car thoroughly before driving off the lot and was missing a lot of little things including spare tire cover, jack, and even the car manual (haynes owns oem anyway...but its the principle of things)

Good Luck! Let us know how everything plays out.

Things moving along fairly well. Parents whined for about 10 minutes (unusually short) and then saw my side of things. All that is left is for me to drive it for a few days, check it, check the carfax, and then put down some money as a deposit. Lucky for me I can sell my car through the dealership cause I work there, so I can put it on the site and hopefully get a buyer sooner than later.
