Nissan Sway Bar Endlinks < MOOG

Gonna bump this....

I just replaced my OEM end links with only 20k miles -- they were shot.
Looking back to when my car was new -- I've ALWAYS had trouble with the rattling front end....so I'd say the original endlinks failed a LONG-LONG time ago as well.

This time, I had replacement links from the LCPKit, so those went in -- but from now on, it's MOOG's for me.

STAY AWAY from the OEM endlinks. You've been warned!

i didnt know that little thing will make such a difference on my cars ride, feels like new.... seriously im so impressive!!! and is cheap... $18 each!

I would go with Moog too. I work at a shop and we get a lot of suspension work. We end up doing the same job over again in the not so distant future when we use suspension components other than higher quality stuff, like Moog.

Benefits of replacing worn sway links with new ones are elimination of any existing noise or clunking and in particular, better body control during turns.

Thx! Yeah i get clunking noise when going over bumps (fsbel) and clear vibration from front end when braking. after long research and diagnostic and trials figured its tie rods. Ordered inners outters fsbl and fsb bushing moog

Do I have to pump these with grease or do they come full greased? And if yes what grease is recommended and how do I grease them?

My energy suspension bushings came with a pack of grease. Just glop the grease in the hole and lube it up good before you install.

I know this is an old thread but my experience is the same. The car's handling is tight, steering response is more precise, and the clunks in the front end that my wife has complained about for 5 years are gone. I got the Moog end links and sway bar bushings from Rockauto for $35 shipped to my door. Well worth the 1 hour of time it took to do the swap. I put anti-seize on the bolts when I reassembled it too.

Any reason to get the es bushings over the moog bushings which on rockauto are 6 dollars instead of 20?
Also is the sway bar link what is called in the nissan manual connector? I could not find the term anywhere in the manual. Also is the transverse link he same as the control arm ? another term that i could not find in the manual.
Is it hard to change the control arm bushings? Mine seem to be shot.

I believe the ES bushings are poly and the Moog bushings from Rockauto are rubber like the factory pieces. The poly bushings firm things up but will also transmit more vibration into the steering wheel and the body of the car. Can't address the other questions that you have as I have not messed with those. I am pretty sure the control arm bushings need to be pressed in with a hydraulic press and need to be removed from the car to do the install.

Would it be cheaper to buy new control arms with i presume have the bushings already pressed in than to pay a shop to change the bushings?
Is there a reason why rockauto is half the price on the sway bar links? Are they different?

In the Maxima parts catalog the sway bar links are referred to as "rod assembly-connecting, stabilizer" and yes, the transverse link is what most would call the lower control arm. When you purchase the transverse link from Nissan it has the bushings installed and a new lower ball joint.

There's a lot of discussion on this forum about Moog being better than OEM, but with 240,000 miles on my stock '02 GLE it's my opinion the OEM stuff is plenty strong enough. The only front suspension components I've replaced are the struts, strut mounts, strut boots, and the passenger side inner tie rod. Some feel having the ability to grease the front suspension points is a bonus. After 240,000 miles on stock suspension parts that have never been greased I question just how important this "feature" of Moog parts really is.

The ES poly bushings are stiffer than OEM, expect tighter and faster handling but be prepared to loose some ride comfort in the process.

link kits

I have a 2002 nissan maxima SE. The car has lowering Eibac springs and the link kits keep breaking. Are there special performance kits you can recommend, or should i just use aftermarket parts?

don't buy moog. i used to love them. but not anymore. they are junk now, IMO.

not really related to maxima, but i used moog on my honda odyssey and crv. the rubber didn't last for 2 years. search and search, i found another brand proforged. i installed these 3 years ago, but they still work like the day i just put it on. they 1 million miles warranty.

moog from 2 years ago and no issues. if your cars lowered then expect front end issues like worn ball joints, links, and other problems. it's just part of the lowering game.

Just replaced with Moog end links and bushings, no more clunks, good to know I can expect two years out of the repair. The ride is super quiet now, and handles great, the OEM parts were thrashed, had to saw the original bolts off too.

I just replaced today my tie rods.. 1 year of use, MOOG crap, and replaced them with more MOOG crap, easy job.... but definitely they are crap. Or maybe the street where I moved to are crap...? Hummmmm LOL

Better off getting the 15 dollar ones off ebay. They come with grease zerts and I've put them on multiple cars with no issue. Definitely last longer than name brand parts.
