VAIS and intake...dirty???

took apart my VAIS and it was a pain. striped out one bolt and took forever to get out. But all is good... with just over 140,000 miles everything is attached. cup is a little loose butfunctions as it should. no need for the JB weld.

I did notice when I took it apart the inside the valve cover area (where the VAIS is attached to the engine) it looks dirty and oily. is it supposed to be like that or should it be cleaned? I am not sure if there is combustion right in there and that is the reason for a bit of dirty oil or not.

any input would be helpful. putting it all back together in the morning..

What year is your car?

I have been looking into checking out my VIAs to make sure it is still working properly. Is this a problem on 5th and 5.5 gens or only on 5's?

it will tend to get that way with time and use... and you might want to take care of that cup in the vias since you have it off.
