Why would my sunroof tilt up on its own?

2nd time this weekend. Start my car in the evening, get a couple miles down the road and I can hear the sound of my sunroof tilting up. Hit the button, close it and it stays closed.

it probably has something to do with the buttons. maybe it's the wind or something. Sometimes, my radio turns on by itself.

You're not alone. My roof does this too. Apparently there are issues with the switches. It isn't a big deal; I just double-check it before going in if I think it might rain.

Mine has done it before. I just do the reset procedure and it goes away for a year or more before it comes back.

Mine does this too, except it doesn't tilt up, it fully opens. Scares the crap out of me every time. I close it, and it doesn't happen again for months... sometimes years. I thought perhaps water was in there somewhere causing a short or something...

Today was the first rain we've had in nearly 3 weeks and I use a rinseless wash (Optimum No Rinse) so I only use a gallon of water to wash it so I am pretty sure water isn't the problem.

I did do the reset procedure yesterday when it happened the second time. Hopefully that fixes it at least for a while.

This has been an issue that goes along with the sunroof not functioning properly. There is a gray relay under the driver side dash that you can just pull and wait a few seconds and plug it back it. It's the relay that is acting up and not the switch. Sometimes as well, when you go to open or close the sunroof, nothing happens. Or when you press the tilt switch it starts to open vs actually tilt. All is relay related, and pulling it and plugging it back in seems to do the trick as it's also a reset procedure. I have had a thread on this in the past, but it's so old that it could be on our old server and lost. Maybe someone will be able to find it at some point.

Interesting. Relay has a mind of its own, eh? Thanks for the suggestion.
