Fitting 2002 cali-spec B-pipe (Cattman) on 2000 Fed-Spec

Referencing this thread:

Also referencing these diagrams:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/maxima-...1981_1982.html

My resonator took some damage and has a leak causing the exhaust to drone. I purchased a used Cattman B-pipe from an .org member with an '02 Cali-spec car. It is in transit.

I did not do my research.

What kind of problems will I have if I try to install this B-pipe on my car? I'm of the understanding that I could try welding the O2 censor bung onto the aftermarket B-pipe. Is it worth the troubles, though?

2000 Fed-spec. My exhaust is stock otherwise.

I think you'll be fine. Just follow the exhaust diagrams and weld the bung behind the main cat.

What's up guys. Thanks. So any trustworthy shop should be able to do this, you think?

I have a shop in mind that has done exhaust work for me in the past. I'm pretty confident in their competence.

Quick questions: does a hole need to be drilled in for the O2 sensor to be placed? if so, is this hole drilled in the b-pipe or in the cat or some place else? Or is there a piece that is welded in between the b-pipe and the cat with the O2 sensor?

If you have a 5.5 Gen Cattman B, then yes. Just weld it in close after the cat on the b-pipe, that should suffice.

Here's what the stock placement looked like:

Okay, thanks. Do I need to buy a bung to weld in to the hole for the b-pipe or should I just be able to swap the one already in the car?

I would think an O2 bung is a pretty standard piece for most exhaust shops, so check with those guys.

Okay, cool. So something like this:

Also, I had a question about the general exhaust system. I noticed the resonator is sitting pretty low to the ground (likely how it got hit in the first place). I am dropped, but I'm not sure if there is general weakness in the exhaust system causing the resonator to sit exceptionally lower than it should. Granted, I haven't jacked the car up to see if it is sitting lower. But if it is, is there anything I should consider fixing installing a stainless steel mid-pipe knowing it's heavier. I don't want to take it to the shop and then realize I need to get new parts or something (hangers/brackets).
