HID bulb replacement

About 1hr ago my driver side HID bulb blew, well i"m assuming since I turned it on and stayed on for about 1 second and then turned off. Does that mean my bulb blew, ballast or loose connection? Could the cold weather has to do something with it? What kind of bulb do i need and should i replace both? Even though they XENON, it can't be too expensive and where can I get the bulbs, want to stay away from the stealership?

Thankyou

If you don't replace it with the identical bulb you should replace both if you want them to match.

I believe this is the correct bulb to match exactly what's in the car, but I'm sure other posters can confirm this for you.

What's it do if you turn them off and back on?

Nothing happens, so I'm pretty sure it blew. How do i know if I need 4300, 6000, 6500 etc; not sure what they came with?

swap the bulbs from one side to the other. The bulbs have no element just a gap from one electrode to another electrode. Swapping the bulbs will determine if it's the ballast or the bulbs themselves.

The car came with Philips 4300k D2R bulbs.

Also keep in mind that as the salts in the HID bulbs age, the bulbs increase in Kelvin value (change color) over time and decrease in lumens (brightness). So you're better off replacing both bulbs if you want the color to match perfectly. This should not be a problem as most bulbs are sold in pairs anyways.
