Sure, it's all hype if 340HP, awesome handling, braking, and looks are hype.

It's the best BMW ever built.

We went from...I miss my Max to...Infiniti vs Max. Well I traded in my 97 se 5spd white for an 02 se 6spd white and I miss the old girl. While the 02 is faster the 97 is much more responsive. Currently prepping an 03 VQ35DE and gearbox to drop into this thing...low mileage!!!

Not to get to far off topic, the M3 & M5 are impressive cars (Driven Both) but what are you really paying for??? For a LESS-than-a-fraction of the cost you could buy a Honda CBR 1000RR and blow the doors off both of them.

Yes an I35 is a Maxima and thats the only way Nissan and Infiniti should be compared. I30 vs 4th gen as well. They are pretty much the same but slightly different in looks and the I35 has extra luxury features that the Maxima may not have (rear seat headrests for example on i30 vs 4th gen). If you found a Maxima and a G35 for same price, same miles, I'm ready to put money on the line everyone and their mother would pick the G over the Max (provided they didnt have issues with the G that may create a bias opinion).

As far as the M, its a completely different car. YES it is worth the hype. 333 horses, high revving and beating with much less concern of engine/tranny going bad, looks (of the 3 maxima's I owned in 8 years, I only got 2 compliments total, I already received 15 with M ownership for almost 3 months not to mention how many necks this car broke), but most importantly, its the FEEL. Performance wise, everything is drastically improved (power on tap, brakes, handling!). Now its VERY possible to get a Maxima in the position where it brakes better, and has more power for less than the price of a stock M, but still two different cars. You'll never get M handle (FWD vs RWD w/ LSD) and you'll never get that "raw" driving feeling. Not even other BMW's can give you that "raw" feeling. But with great power comes great responsibility. You will pay out the @$$ for repairs and such if you dont choose the right M....sometimes even if you do. Its just one of those cars you will NEVER get tired of driving.

nope, all M3's come with Limited Slip, atleast all e46 M3's and up (2001+). One of the few reasons people prefer the M's over the 335i

For all of you guys that say the maxima interior is better than the G35...Are you talking about an 03-04 G35? In 05-06 (07 for coupes) the interior is MUCH NICER.
I came from an 03 6speed maxima that was FULLY LOADED including HLSD. YES the G35 isn't much faster but the motor is smoother and there is no torque steer. The chasis of the G35 makes the maxima feel like a wet noodle...
Steering is nice and tight. What I miss from the maxima is the heated steering wheel and sometimes the spaciousness of the car. OH yeah...I def. would take the G35 6speed gearbox over the maxima's truck shift throws...even with the STS

I do miss my 2k1 SE, it has been sitting in the garage for the last 3 years, getting a major face lift, but the wake up call is in about a month from now, trust me this will be one hell of a wake up. Lol

Agreed!! Burnurass has a sexy interior. I think the maxima has better spacing but I would definitely sacrifice some leg room for a more luxury interior like the G's (atleast 05+). Look at you guys making a big deal about heated steering wheels. Who gives a flying F*CK about heated steering wheels?! (straight out of Knocked Up)

Not really, I'm comparing principles....to better clarify my position, If you are buying the M for the look/prestige (image is very important to some people) than by all means spend to dough, but if you are buying an M for performance then you are wasting your hard-earned money. Buy the sport bike and redo the kitchen so your wife gets something too..Happy wife, happy life...

You're right... the new G37 interior is far superior than all model maxima's. It even makes the beautiful 7th gen interior look clunky; (although stylistically, there are a lot of similarities.)

I love my '03, but you have to modify the car into something downright visceral in order to get the same kind of performance as a stock G37S... and even then, it's a wash. Don't get me wrong, I like an aggressive ride, but that G is seductively refined.

A G37S Sedan 6MT, in Lakeshore Slate with Stone Leather... man, that's the car for me.

...and who knows? Maybe then I'd be missing my max!

What a strange thread.

There are many things you can do with a sports car, or an M that you cant do with a bike not to mention the risk of physical damage is higher on a bike. The M is for someone looking for the perfect balance of a coupe. Basically for someone trying to buy a car they wont have to touch (that never lasts). Has the looks, performance and reliability that you want from a sports car right out the lot. Ofcourse, like all cars the M has issues but nowhere as much as Maxima's and others. No stupid sensors, wheel bearings, MAF's dieing.

I like my max, and I'm sure the 400HP + engine is going to be really fun to drive, but in the mean time I have a lot of pleasure driving my X5 4.4i, man this truck has some guts and take off like a dog out of the box. But once the max is done, my next car is going to be the M5, I' ve been dreaming of that car for a long time, my max will remain a show car for the sunday and a legacy for my kids when I'll be to old to drive it. Lol

X5 is a monster! My boy has a 4.8is and it gets up for a truck. High price tags though.

I miss mine also, but it'll be worth the wait once it gets out of the body shop. It should be back early this coming week.

I've been without mine since February...I'm driving a wrx now.

I find myself missing the maxima more and more all the time.

Boost + AWD is fun, but it still can't quench my craving for VQ30DE + 00VI.

I see your 4 news articles and raise you an NHTSA study that says:
The fatality rate per registered vehicle for motorcyclists in 2007 was 6 times the fatality rate for passenger car occupants, according to NHTSA.
