Can I get a honk?

Wiring diagram posted, need some help interpreting......... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...el-Diagram.jpg

Need to finally resolve some problems wiring a Stebel Nautilus horn ( http://www.stebel.it/stebel/index2009.htm ). I'm a total novice when it comes to electrical wiring...which is exactly the reason I initially had someone else do this for me. Probably would have been better off attempting it myself...

About 4 months ago I had a friend of a friend wire the horn to my 2001 SE. The horn came with a relay switch, but this clown decided that it wasnt necessary He took the wire going to the stock horn (next to washer fluid) and simply plugged it into the positive side of the airhorn. Then ran a wire from the negative horn terminal to the frame as a ground. So great, everything worked fine for a few honks.

A day later it stopped working. When I press the steering wheel, only the front stock horn works. Additionally, when I hit the lock button on my remote, no more horn sound, and when the factory alarm is triggered, no horn. I tried to just connect the factory horn again, and nothing.

Edit: The horn is currently mounted next to the washer fluid, would be nice if it stayed there if possible.

Now that its getting warmer out, and like to get this squared away myself (with a little help from the org)...can someone tell me how to take care of this issue?

Check the 10 amp anti theft fuse in the fuse box near the battery. atleast i think thats the fuse name. i know its a 10 amp one though.

Thanks for the reply...just checked and sure enough its fried. So let me see if I'm understanding this so far. The horn near the washer fluid is part of the factory alarm, hence the reason the anti-theft fuse blew. Which would explain why there is no horn, only lights, when the alarm is triggered. And also why the factory horn didn't work when I plugged it back in. So far so good?

Now before I replace that 10amp fuse, I obviously need to get this horn wired correctly. I;ve been searching for some diagrams, I've found a few, but they really arent making complete sense. I'm going to scan and post the Stebel instructions so maybe someone can explain it.

Here's the diagram that came with the horn, minus the annotations I just added in lol

Might have to zoom in to read it

just the wire off the old horn to the new one, but them air horns draw to much current, you will keep poppping that fuse, putting in a stronger one seems to be the cure but you will heat up wires and possibly cause a fire if the fuse dont pop.

Are you trying to blow all the horns at once or toggle between the new and old horns?

Trying to keep one stock horn and one airhorn...reason being is when the horn is pressed, the airhorn has a slight delay while the air compresses. Therefore, when I hit the remote lock, ONLY the factory horn will sound since the airhorn doesnt have enough time to compress. (I don't want the airhorn going off everytime I lock my doors.)

I think I figured out what one of the objects in the diagram is....the round thing looks to be the STEERING WHEEL

Now can the "light switch" looking object be the vehicles factory relay??? Seems like the only logical thing.

Now how in the hell do I go about testing if the car has a "positive lead to the horn button" or a negative lead?

Geezus chr1$t, this diagram sucks

The 'light switch' object is just that, a switch.

Look at the horns, you see there's a lead coming in, but nothing out. They ground out to the engine bay, so they get a B+ coming in. Alternatively, just look at the wiring diagram (which you should be looking at anyway, considering you're modifying the stock electrical system).

The switch just looks to be there to select the factory horn or the new air horn.

I apologize ahead of time for the ignorance, but where in the he11 is this switch? And better yet, why would I want to choose between the stock and airhorn? I just want both to work simultaneously.

Where can I find a wiring diagram for the factory horn?

This is how I THINK it is supposed to work after looking at the diagram included with the horn.

Factory Wire #1 will goto the Stebel relay switch.

I am assuming that I leave Factory Wire #2 as is, since its already connected to the front factory horn (The horn that will stay) My concern now is that my drawing may be incorrect in that factory wire #2 comes directly from the horn button/steering wheel, instead of how I have it drawn from the factory relay.

My professional and technically correct wiring diagram

What do you mean where is the switch? You supply your own switch, most likely. It's not like the car has a random toggle switch from the factory to switch over to an aftermarket horn system one may or may not add in the future.

At a glance, that seems to be fine.

Wiring diagrams are in the FSM.

I was pretty sure this switch wasn't on the car stock...i'm guessing this is optional (unlike the relay that my buddy left out)

As for the FSM, I did some googling but haven't been able to find a free download as of yet. I'll pay the $8 or whatever it is unless anybody knows if it's actually available somewhere.

Well, you've got a few options there.

One is to just simply look at my sig.

Or you could use the less organized sites that are easily found through google, such as http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/ or www.phatg20.net/, etc.
