Can new MAF sensor be put into old MAF tube?

I just came across a new MAF sensor for $72. Part # 22680-2Y001

It has the sensor already installed into the tube, and there is a piece of paper in the box saying that you shouldn't remove the sensor and put it into your existing MAF tube...what's the deal?

I really don't feel like removing and installing the whole unit if I could just take 5minutes and pop in the new sensor.

Probably just due to possible damage to the sensor, and warranty coverage.

It's somewhere along the line of T15/20/25 security torx.

According to this, it's a regular T15:

But I know the ones I've done were security torx bolts.

Here we go:

Though IIRC Merlyn's A33B had regular torx bolts on the stock MAF, and the new A33 MAF we ordered had the security torx bolts.

Yeah, my A33B MAF has a regular, non-security Torx as well and the 2001 2Y001 MAF I bought for a friend's 2002 Pathfinder had a security Torx, as did his OEM MAF.
