Sorry to bump this thread, but I have some questions.
1) Is the O2 sensor that I pointed to useable? as in a sensor will fit and wont be hitting the engine or anything like that?

2) For the grinding of the engine mount, are we talking about the part thats attached to the engine or the crossmember? It looks like the engine portion. How did you go about doing this? It doesnt look trimmed at all to me, but I dont remember how it looks very well anymore

The crossmember had to be shaved on my 3.0 5th gen. I didn't have to touch the motor mount though.

Im pretty sure if you read the instructions CAREFULLY it says to grind the engine mount BRACKET... not the mount itself. I think this should clear that up for you, I hope that is right b/c I plan on installing mine this weekend- they just arrived yesterday.

Let me know if you find out anything about that sensor bung, is that the one he mentions relocating?

Let me know how your install goes. Im just waiting on the gasket and bung/plug I had to order then I should be ready to go.

Good luck!

well im planning to go the route unclejoe went (use the second bung in the tube for the primary O2) and just plug the one thats a problem. However, if for some reason that one cant be used ill have to get the relocation done so I have room for all my stock O2's and widebands. I should be installing these thursday or friday so ill post what I find

how did you setup your o2's?? also, did you grind the mount bracket and cross beam thingy? jack up your car and just push on different parts of the header and see if anything moves when you touch it, you might see what is hitting.

You could also put a dab of grease on the cross member to see if the two touch while under power.

Have someone put the car in gear, emergency brake on , blocked wheels and apply some throttle to induce engine movement in fwd and reverse gears!

Yeah it's got three(3) possible areas where it can contact something:
1.The rear portion of the crossmember with the collector/flew joint.
2.The rear engine mount and the rear header assembly.
3. The rear O2 sensor that is fitted @ the rack and pinion assembly.

I thought they revised the engineering on all thier recently built OBX header assemblies!

so, in the end, it was probably worth saving 350+ from buying cattman, but christ thats a ***** to do. Ended up having to grind on both motor mounts and the crossmember. sounds nice though

actually I was surprised that there wasnt an O2 bung where the pictures showed and that I had to grind the front mount, sounds like im the first to do that

I have a megan catback, test pipe, and TS ecu flash with z33 vtc map which im pretty sure is the reason it sounds just like a z, except a little louder and it pops a bit sometimes since I have a test pipe. ill see about a sound clip

I mean the ebay pics. There was a bung on the middle of the back pipe on the curve, pointing forward, the normal bung that everyone relocates, and there was one more just past where the pipe starts going forward which was not present on my set.

the guy I bought mine from said they were a redesign, but from what I found they arent any better fitment-wise, possibly worse (see above)

Dam I guess those geniuses over @ OBX still can't get it right after 3 design revisions for the same a$$ car...Maybe they can't afford to redesign thier freakin jig since they charged so little for thier product...Or else they're using you guys as thier field test lab in working thier kinks out! Hopefully with all that cutting and grinding involved in the installation won't compromise any of your safety features designed into our cars during a frontend collision or reselling your car which more then likely will be inspected by most dealers for crap like that!

No they don't purposely go looking for them , but when 150 point inspections are performed, it's pretty extensive...How do you know there aren't any dealership service managers or technicians on this site? I use to work in an auto repair shop that performed 120 point inspection and we use to write down everything on these car for the potential buyers.....

Gemner, so where was it located?

Could you provide the seller name so we can keep track of who's selling what?

Thanks

Cmax, if you have nothing to contribute but to knock off OBX headers for the sake of promoting Cattmans, please leave.

Ahh yes I have the exact same problem with the hissing. At first it sounded like I had a little exhaust leak, so I sea foamed and checked for smoke coming out. No go.

I took a closer look at the flex pipe and noticed all of the small holes in it. Not really a problem, just the way it's designed.

The sound actually kind of grew on me. Love the way it sounds after 3500rpm in 3rd gear. Stock catback, btw.

It was the sensor located at B in shady's picture. The seller was dailod and he seemed pretty legit, I think this is just the new design
