Ideal conditions...I've read the 5.5's will do a really low 14 second 1/4 mile. Considering the fact that it wasn't TOTALLY intended to be a sports car and it was faster then most of its competition...

I was impressed when I was reading about the 90-96 TT 300zx's. How they were running 0-60 times of 6.5 seconds and a 15.0 second 1/4 mile.

I agree. No, it's not ridiculous, but for a first car it's definitely plenty...

If you're not a brokea$$, and can find one maintained well it's a great first car.
The only problem is when you go for your second car, you will have to shell out megabucks to get one with comparible performance and features.

On the bright side after getting used to parking your max you will be able to park just about anything shy of a dump truck

If a 16 year old with a fresh drivers license (me 2 1/2 years ago) can handle the power I'm sure you all can.
