It's tig welded, the reason I used the accordian piece was for the flexibility. I've seen how much some of our engines move, especially with the crappy electric mounts. And it saves 20 bucks by not buying another piece of silicon and hose clamps. I origianlly used a silicon coupler on the one for my car, It doesn't really make a performance increase or decrease, perhaps doesn't look as pretty but it gives a little when you mat it.

gotcha, best home made intake i've seen i might try that, but im not gonna use the flex peice cause it pushes the filter too close to the fender and battery (hardly any air it looks like)

if youre lookin for a cheap intake, id say roll with a maf adaptor. theres adaptors on ebay, but theres def a vendor on here that sells decent aluminum ones, but im drunk and dont feel like searching the threads for them. but theyre out there. check it out. i used to run the "short ram" myself with a maf adaptor, theres some gain. i got the injen CAI now

GAB FTW! I think this is a great set-up, possibly better than some of the aftermarket CAIs i've seen out there. I don't think water would be too much of a problem.

Nice job on the intake.. I love the way it came out
Do you think you could post the parts list and where you got them and maybe even a little how-to if you have the time?

It's just a 7" tube 3" od, with a 5/8 OD 7" tube welded together. For the maf adapter I use vibrant brand made for the subaru and drill my own holes to match the maxima bolt pattern. couplers I buy from the place i can get the best price. t-bolt clamps, again I use vibrant.

T-bolt clamps on a N/A car?....For looks obviously! Maybe I'll put a Hybrid Shortram Intake Kit together for $150-$175 which will include the Bellmouth, Air filter, MAF adapter, Silicon couplers and hose clamps....
