Shes goin into the Stealership... i need some advice..
well thank god its under and extended warrenty still,.. the problem is 6th gear decided to just straight up stop working.. its doesnt grind theres just a wall.. and no chance it goes in. my first guess is a bent fork?..but hopefully they will figure it out for sure...
the reason im posing this is i want to make sure i dont get screwed..and im sure there are ppl here with more tranny know-how then me,.. basically if there is something they should be replacing that they decide to re-use oem or any other secnario you can think of......ill update once they do an offical diag. which should be monday afternoon at the latest..at that time ill be looking for more in depth help on their analysis.. but in the mean time.. any advice on what could be the culprit..
thanks

If you get a whole new tranny, the t/o bearing and fork comes with it, but you may want to have a look at the clutch and flywheel while the transmission is out to see if they are worn and need to be replaced as well.
Or could just be the shifter control assy, might be messed up and not allowing to shift into 6

**UPDATE**
okay well they said they are going to put a reman. tranny from nissan under warrenty, and all ill have to pay is the 50 dollar deductable from my nissan extended warrenty.. great news.. now my ?......
should i put a new clutch in it? the car/clutch has orig. 37,700 miles right now,.. the guy said it wont be any extra labor charge i will just have to pay for the nissan parts..which include
p/n 30100vw305 disc a --104.93
p/n302108j101 cover ---197.82
p/n 3050241u20 throw out bearing-- 43.77
does that sound right??
so my thinking is for 400 bucks thanks to my warrenty.. i can get a new clutch and tranny or.. for 50 bucks i can leave my old clutch and put the new tranny...
a nissan oem flywheel was like 400.. and he said "theres really no sense changing that im sure its fine it would be going overboard" ,.. is he right?..he also said.. they will let me know once they open up the tranny(next week when the new one comes in) how bad the clutch really is... he kinda made it seem like he didnt want to bother with a new clutch.. cause of the low miles maybe? im not sure why...but im thinking for the 400 a new clutch is the smart option at this point to go along with the new tranny.... PLEASE ADVISE!!!!!
oh also.. i asked about an act clutch.. and he said that would prob void my warrenty.. they would need nissan parts..

If it was me, and I know it isn't, and I knew I'd be keeping the car a while, I'd at least change out the throwout bearing for $43.
Simple to change...once the trans is out. Just take a good look at the clutch plate as well. I'm sure the pressure plate is fine at such a low mileage.

thanks for the advice guys... i guess ill wait till they look to make my decision.. if its more then 50% gone ill just do it..
and no they didnt say exactly what was wrong.. he said they didnt even open it.. that the synchros are just far beyond gone.. sounds like a BS guess.. lol..so ??.. im thinking since it was warrenty they just went ahead and did the est.+-3,000K job.. because they make more money that way... but idk..
heres a question.. are these listed below...the only parts that would be needed if I did want them to put a clutch in? am i missing something?... is the slave cylinder part of the throw-out? and is the cover another name for the pressure plate?.. sorry for my lack of tranny know-how lol

EDIT: i remember reading about the differences between gl-4 and gl-5.. how -5 eats synchros and whatnot... do they know enough to put gl-4 in there? .. as opposed to gl-5? or should io ask what weight they use?

UPDATE::
dealer took the car in this morning for the new tranny...and they just called me the new tranny is in! ..but..
metalmax: you were right! i should have known... lol..they didnt replace the clutch/pressure plate.. he said it was prob 70% meat, and looked great..BUT...
he said while they had the crossmember off they noticed a broken motor mount(i asked him which one on the phone and he ''thinks'' rear[covered under warrenty])..so they overnighted the part for install tomorrow... cant wait to drive it now if it had a broken motor mount lol...
ironic part is i was planning on ordering es MM and subframe bushings as soon as i got it back...
gotta hand it to crowley nissan in Bristol, CT.. i havnt had the car back yet but they seem very honest
