"SLIP" and "TSC" lights are both constantly on...

So I was driving today going about 30 mph and out of no where my car stalled. I was able to start it back up, but I noticed that both the "SLIP" and "TCS OFF" lights were both lit up. I turned the car off and back, but they are still lit up. The car seems to be running as it should....

Battery most likely needs replacement ... common sign is the SLIP and TCS lights going off at the same time. That and the fact the car stalled would lead me to think the battery is pouched.

That's what I thought. Most likely an electrical issue (ie; battery). Thank you sir.

You may want to also confirm that the Alternator is delivering the correct amps.

Well I wouldn't go that far with any statement about these cars, after all in most cases these cars are between 6 to 9 years old and most are on their second or third owner. What maintenance has been done will always be the suspect, like any car doing regular maintenance is key and even more important is the preventative maintenance. All to often some owners will do nothing until they have a problem and then blame their lack of attention on a car makers poor quality which is just wrong in my opinion.

Perhaps you should just give up on car ownership and ride a bike which is self propelled by you ... mmmm wait a minute that idea won't work as you may not have been doing regular maintenance on yourself through proper diet and physical activity ... so I guess you would blame mom and dad for shotty production.

Automobile batteries have finite life, this being either somewhat outside Nissan's control (if it was the OE battery which owes you nothing at this point) or completely so (if it was a replacement battery). Note that a bad battery can take the alternator down with it (or shortly afterward) by forcing it to charge at higher rates while the battery is weak but not quite dead.

Anything else is separate.

Why is ignorance always accompanied by smugness?

Brilliant analogy, Jim! Very well said.

And good call on the battery. I got lucky with 7 good years on my battery, then replaced it the day my dealership told me it was weak.

agreed.

and yea, batt is a good jump off point. had both slip and TCS lights on about a week and a half ago (accompanied by SES-semi-unrelated tho) and now my batt is dead as a doornail. no click, no lights..nada. SES was my MAF-it just all decided to go at once.

dont be too upset though, i had two batts go this week (max #2 and the rover) fun fun

Yes, Nissans are complete junk. Thats why there are still 1980's, 1990s, and early 2000's on the road today. Most vary in problems based on maintenance like Ghost_54 said. Show me a 1990s, 1980s American car thats on the road in condition comparable to Nissans (and Honda's and Toyotas [feel free to kick me in the face for complimenting them). There really aren't as many.
