Please help me!! it's an emergency

Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I really need help. Last night I attempted to do a led swap to my cluster, everything was working out perfectly untill I was resassembling my rpm needle. It seemed fine when i assembled at my desk. After connecting it back to my car my rpm needle was way off. I tried fixing it but that's when things got bad, when I attempted to recalibrate it I heard a snap and now my needle does not move at all. So I guess it's time for a new cluster. Here's the problem my cars a 5 speed, but all the ones I find are automatic with p r n d 2 1 in the middle. Is it possible I can buy this type and switch the plastic cover with mine so no letters show across the middle? Or do I have to get a cluster from a manual? Im hoping they both work because all the ones I'm finding are from automatics. Thanks so much guys!(2000 maxima)

Go to autozone and get a large RPM guage. Tape or screw it to your steering column then hook it up to a good signal. Get one with a really bright shift light.

That is what I would do.

Are you sure you wouldnt slap a sprint booster on there?

OP, look in the classifieds for a used cluster from a part out. Too bad you don't have an 02 or 03 I have 3 cluster boards in my basement.

What is it with this damn sprint booster recently lol....

To the op, be patient and you will find one. You can drive the car with a broken RPM gauge. I am sure if you were driving your manual max you would be able to shift at an appropiate rpm by just listening to the engine.

thanks

thanks guys for all the reply's. I took another look at my cluster and i realized the stupid owner before me connected a small wire from the battery light to the slip, and tcs off light. He sold it saying it had traction control but i guess not. He connected it to the battery light so when i start the ignition those light would light up. So i guess i can use any cluster since mines a base model and does not have traction control. I'm probably going to buy this one:
(mine has 174000, this was is slightly higer and has the se gauges)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_2478wt_848

So im guessing this would fit? with no modifications even though its from an automatic, im just going to change the middle with my old one so the auto gears don't show. I would loveeeeee to put an 02-03 cluster personally it just looks so much better, i rember reading a person on the org that put it in his 4th gen, he even got the temp display to work. Thanks again!!!

Does nobody here know that the "RPM gauge" is actually called a tachometer? It really doesn't even take that much longer to type, either.

You cant use the stock rpm gauge with the sprint booster simply because the rpms needle cant keep up with the decreased throttle lag.

In fact, that is probably why yours broke in the first place, that snap you heard was the sprint booster's amazing power.

My thoughts too until I figured out he doesn't even have a sprint booster
