4th batch already? I guess so, its been an excellent part for us, and I thank our customers for that. Not simply for buying them, but for 1) encouraging us to take these into production in the first place, and 2) embracing the part with such enthusiasm.

I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents into the thread, I installed my 3" exhaust, along with a warpspeed high flow cat a few weeks ago, and you can count me in as another satisfied customer. The installation had one hiccup, we were unable to wrench off the nuts on the catalytic converter flanges, as they were very rusted/oddball sized and rounded off when we tried to remove them. A quick trip to Home Depot to pick up a dremel and some cutting discs removed the bolts quite nicely though.
The sound of the exhaust is very nice, and has a nice deep throaty tone to it. It certainly sounds much nicer than my open exhaust did (b-pipe flange had completely rusted apart). The rattling of the stock exhaust muffler/b-pipe under the car was starting to drive me nuts, thankfully there were no fitment issues/rattles with the new exhaust. There is a very noticeable power increase, I find myself driving a little more aggressively than normal to both hear the exhaust and feel the performance increase.
The build quality/finish of the exhaust is fantastic, we were rather amazed at how restrictive the stock exhaust is in comparison, with many poorly done crush bends throughout. I do have a few minor quibbles however. There is a rather noticeable drone from about 2000-2500 rpm, which is unfortunately where I spend most of my driving time as I take freeways to/from work. It's much less than the drone of my rusted out stock exhaust though, and is easily defeated by turning the stereo up. My other complaint has to do with the included gaskets that came with the exhaust, they are a very poorly cut paper gasket material, and one of the gaskets even failed to have the bolt holes properly punched out. I had to very carefully cut out the bolt holes to avoid leaks from the gasket. I fear that these gaskets will eventually blow out, and as they are a paper material they are going to dry out severely and be next to impossible to remove from the flanges. I suspect I'll be ordering some metal oem gaskets to replace the paper style that was included.
I have a Cattman y-pipe awaiting installation, that'll likely go on at some point during the weekend. I'll report any findings after installation, as far as exhaust tone change, power increase, etc.

Thanks very much for the positive review, getting positive feedback about our parts is one of the most rewarding aspects of this work.
As far as the two points you raised are both well taken, but without apparent remedies.
There's not much we can do about the drone other than trying some "hidden" tricks - basically strategically-placed restrictions in flow that can reduce drone, but also compromise the power a bit - or upsizing the muffler (mainly) and resonator (can't get much bigger), which would raise the price by at least $50.
If I knew of a good Nissan gasket that would fit those 3" flanges, I'd use it (just like the metal Nissan gaskets we include with our FastCats), but I don't know of one with a 3" hole in the middle and proper bolt-hole spacing. That said, the gaskets we send are standard exhaust gaskets, exactly like those provided with most exhaust parts, and as long as there is no exhaust leak they'll last until the next time the flanges are seperated (but can't be used twice). Retightening all fastner fittings a couple days after an exhaust install is standard procedure, and will prevent most leaks from developing in the first place.

GOING TO MAXUS 2010!

I have Cattman Y-pipe as well, I havent had the time to install it either. If you beat me to it (which it sounds like you will) I am very interested to see...well I guess, hear any difference in tone or volume. BTW, I had to use a torch to get the cat off...you weren't the only one it fought.

I am just happy it stopped raining here so that once my exhaust cools down I can go install my new exhaust hangers...

Can you explain this upsizing a little more for me? For $50 I will do it with my order if you think it would be worth it to achieve what the other guy was looking for.
Just hit up CATTMAN, to get up on the 4th batch, Lucky #7, needs 3 more people to get production rolling, so if anybody is interested times a ticking cause who knows when that Custommaxima one is going to hit maybe in another 9 months. Holla

Continued...Here are my reuseable Oem cat gaskets being compared to the CM 3" gaskets....Will need to diegrind I.D. of gasket to fit 3" exhaust perfectly....

Rear view of tips

Rear mufflers assembly comparison...Was running CM 2.5" bpipe w/Oem rear muffler....

I was again pleased with the overall fitment of the CM 3" catback system....Thank god for that slip fit joint. It allows you variably position the muffler/exhaust to clear suspension brackets. Once I installed it and never had to make any other adjustment after my 10 mile test ride. The weather was wet so everytime I'd mash the throttle 3/4 the way to the floor even at 40-45 mph the tires broke loose. It appears to be a keeper so far guys....thanks again for the awesome product Brain.....

So I have a question... I got my 3" Catback on... and it stayed nice and shiny... for about a day. Now the muffler and tips are all orange-ish and oxidized... How does one keep it shiny???! It's nearly brand new, and I want it to look that way!!!
Metal polish it and buff it! My old 2.5 tips and muffler came with the natural finish and I polished it and buff it one time and never had too again.....you can find metal polish kits with 6-8 different compounds @ Northern Tools for the cheap.....
I thought I'd give a quick update on the y-pipe installation, or should I say attempted y-pipe installation. It wasn't too hard to get the old y-pipe off, although alot of the smaller heatshield bolts ended up snapping off. The problems I've had relate to getting the new y-pipe in place, I ended up removing the studs from the pre-cat flange in the back in order to give me more room to get the new y-pipe in place. When I finally managed to get the front flange of the y-pipe bolted up and one bolt started through the back pre-cat, I discovered that the secondary pipe section of my y-pipe is too short (the piece that connects to the rear pre-cat).
I started grinding the bolt openings on the flange with a die grinder to open them up a bit more, as it is impossible to either install the y-pipe with all of the studs in place, or to screw the studs back into the back pre-cat flange with the y pipe in place, as the bolt hole openings on the y-pipe flange simply do not line up, once again with the front flange connection of the y-pipe fully bolted up.
I'm afraid that I may have to reinstall the stock y-pipe in order to return my car to functionality, which feels alot like giving up. I have doubts of whether the the middle flange of the y-pipe will seal up even after opening up the bolt holes a bit more. I thought about taking the pipe to an exhaust shop to have them extend the pipe as necessary to make it fit, but would prefer to get the install finished myself.

Finished my install today, biggest pita was removing all the stock exhaust pieces that had rusted solid. But it really wasn't that bad with the car up on blocks, and with the cross member/motor mounts removed. I had to use the cutting torch on the old cat and to heat off some of the stud nuts on the rear manifold.
With everything hooked up boy is it loud (headers>y>fastcat>catback) The tone really is fantastic and it was much louder than I expected. It gets very quiet if you baby the gas though which is nice.
But seriously it does DRONE A LOT on the highway with my set up. However thats totaly not a problem for me as I used to own a 5.0 mustang. It was turning heads all today while I was driving around.

Got mine installed a couple of days ago. Definitely a quality system. my only gripe would be for a rolled tip on the muffler. Literally that is the ONLY gripe. Guys at the shops first comment was, this is the nicest kit thats come through here you ought to see some of the low budget **** people bring in here. Made me smile, but not as much as when we got it bolted up.
Going to tackle the header and y install in a couple weeks when my partner gets back from afg, but as for now Im extremely satisfied, and this was definitely a good purchase. thank you brian.

Got this put on a few weeks ago. Beautiful. Wife didn't like the racket though, so I put on a Vibrant Ultra Quiet (2.5 in) in place of my test pipe. Problem solved. Had to take a small section of the y-pipe to make it fit though.

Just my humble opinion, but I think drone is, for most people (with a realistic perspective on the trade-offs of performance parts), irrelevant for a 6MT. Sure, you can select a small rpm range and hear the drone, but its so simple to avoid it with a manual tranny.

What I think Brian is saying is it's easy as hell with a manual to avoid that 2200-2500 rpm range,.....I have an A/t and I do that samething by shifting manually or downshifting into 3rd gear to get out of that drone zone.....With stock manifolds it should be pretty quiet! With headers it's a little louder but tolerable.....75mph on up is pretty drone free at least on my ride......

Regarding the slip joint, did everyone receive what I see in the The Law's and Cmax03'spics, a hose clamp/exhaust clamp like item? Mine didn't come with one .. might need to pick one up at the store later, planning on install tonight.
Wow, really? This is probably a really stupid question but did u take all foam off of it? Bc when I got my exhaust that band clamp or whatever its called was on the muffler side of that slip joint.
Oh well that's great! I'll probably put my order in within the next week and a half.
