What cat?

Although dynos of the difference (if any) would be awesome. But we're all poor haha

Ok so I said I'd post on here about my 1/4 mile experience with my Cattman setup... Basically it sucked. My best time was a 15.5. I'm at a pretty high altitude, but STILL, my DA corrected time was only 14.7. I had a consistent trap speed of 88mph, which also sucks. The speed DA corrected was 94mph. I'm untuned, so could it be possible that I'm running so rich that it's causing these horrible times/speeds??? Someone help me out please! I friggin hate this!

How high of altitude are you at? And is this a 1/4 mile or (metric system shenanigans) ?

What's your 60 ft? What gear are you in when launching D or 3rd? I did a granny launch just to see what it would do 60 ft was a 2.3- 2.4 and ran a 14.5sec....Next time I go out I'll be launching her really hard should see 2.0 or less in my 60ft....I do have ES MM inserts, Illuminas, and super lightweight 18" wheels that have clocked 2.1 60ft B4 the ES MM mod....I'm untuned but will be looking out my A/F ratio this week @ WOT.....I haven't installed my NWP spacers nor new coilpacks yet so once I do I'm hoping for low 14's or high 13's.....

My 60 ft was 2.4 ... And I was doing my best launching. And even if I had bad times, my trap speed should have been higher... I really don't know what's going on. I guess I'll just have to try a tune. I know I'm running rich, cuz I can smell it. I wonder just how rich it is though.

Yeah it's difference is at the end of the track....if you're in Drive...it'll shift a few hundred ft b4 the finish line....In 3rd it's still pulling hard....try it! You'll see the difference.....

Let's not forget the lock-up torque converter action that occurs in 3rd.

Just finished install of 3" Cattback on 5speed DEK, much more responsive and sounds great! Although a flex section leak was discovered after install which went smooth and uneventful as long as you have a torch (if old system heavily corroded) and an extra set of hands and/or support stands. It looks and fits perfectly as well. Only possible concern I have is whether or not the tips are too close to bottom of bumper and potentially melt/deform it. Does anyone know the minimum clearance needed so I don't have to worry about it? Or would I be ok with a 1-2mm gap and as long as they're not in direct contact w/ the bumper? Will try to get a sound clip up once I get the flex fixed. Thank you Brian for producing a great system!

No melt down syndrone to worry about with the tips....SS retains heat well most of your heat is expelled.....Been running Cattman 2.5" and 3.0" catback combined time for over 6yrs.....no melted rear bumper yet.....

Thanks for the help/input guys...system installed properly w/ weld mark on top (O2 port as well) so no problem there. The system seems to have settled a bit & w/ a little downward pressure and pulling up on bumper cutout area while warm has cleared my conscience so to speak and good to go minus flex issue. Thinking I should just get new Y but $ is tight yet I don't want to prolong the inevitable...

There's alot of adjustability built into Cattman's 3" catback, the rear section where the slip joint and band clamp are can make the difference in how that exhaust seats on the car, clearance thru the over axle lambyrith and the amount of tip protrusion....
As for your defection flex section, I would get one aftermarket with turbo interlock features and you'll have for the rest of your life...

Thanks again. I messed around with the rear section/slip joint area to fix a light banging/rattle (which seems to be occurring in 1-2 areas within the rear axle exhaust 'labrynthe' area) as well as working on the tips-to-bumper clearance issue but does not appear I'm making much, if any, progress at all...Is it best to leave all hangers attached and just loosen the clamp and slide/adjust that way or is there a better way or order of operations of hopefully correcting both of my issues? I did replace all hangers(insulators) with the stiffer Walker ones when installing the 3"...What else can I try/do?

Taking off in 3rd is the same as taking off in D, no added TQ, if you want your best times do as followed, take off in 1st gear, tire psi @20-22, power break to 2K and if you have a regular tree (light) leave on the 3rd yellow and floor it as hard and as fast as you can... thank me later

Telling him to take off in 3rd was to help him keep pulling all the way to the finish line.....Cause toward the last 300 ft @ the end of the track if you're in D the car will shift into OD, killing your momentum... and trapspeed

Ya I did mess around with that as well and the only thing I can think of to bring the valance up right at the cutout would be to attach some type of bracket/brace to the bumper reinforcement bar and then to the valance. It seems unless it'd be attached directly in the middle of the cutout, it won't bring it up in the proper area to provide any more tip clearance. And doing so would likely create a protrusion from a screw, clip, tab etc. so hopefully I can figure out a way to support/attach a brace at the valance cutout entirely from the backside.

Yeah, I took mine for a ride tonight and my buddy (fellow Orger) heard the mellow howl thru the phone....and I told him about my description of the sound being slightly deeper than the Cattman 2.5" catback and more of a buttery-smooth sound and he too agrees....I'm proud of my exhaust note, especially when I hear some of these contraptions ppl throw together on their rides and how they disturd the peace....most of them sound like ****!!!!!
