Actually that is not completely true. Yes there was a slight loss in power from the dyno that I had before and after the install. As far as the butt dyno is concerned; there seemed to be a loss of torque, however it may have been distributed a little more evenly throughout the power band so you don't get the feeling of thrust at WOT.

Now, after nearly two years with cattmans 3", I have installed NWP's BOP ETL and 5 pc Spacer kit and with those supporting mods whatever I felt was lost has been returned and then some ( I mean a lot). each of those mods were installed with about 1-2 weeks separation and driven daily. Each piece produced a little better response to throttle; the spacers bringing the greatest impact. At any rate I should have the cattman headers/Ypipe installed hopefully by the end of week. But that's what I have experienced as far as a 3" cat back. FWIW. GLWS - it's a great buy. Sorry to jack the thread.

If you don't have no supporting Mods, then you will feel it but like Maxurlife..had the same parts before the 3" and all worked well together. Would of installed headers today but Damn rain messed that up...

You would be right if these were <2.5L 4 cylinders. However, it's been well proven that mostly stock 3.5 maximas gain power with the 3".

What about the VQ30DE-K, would a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust be adequate? Since it's better than the stock 2" crush bent exhaust.

From threads I've read in the past, a 2.5in would be just fine for the De-K. I believe there are a few ppl running 3", but they have tunes with extended redlines, headers, removed power rods, etc.

My car is a daily driver, and I have minimal mods done so far. With the engine, I have a grounding kit and an intake. With the exhaust, I only have the resonator deleted. Future plans are to get a Y-pipe, high flow cat, and probably (haven't made up my mind yet) a BRM 2.5" exhaust with the optional 22" resonator to keep the db's down.

Thanks for the info! You know my car is a daily driver too. Also, that I and others are very happy with the SRS 2.5" exhaust, so I won't go there. Just a consideration if you want to save $$$ for those other mods. FYI; I have a ($40. shipped) Magnaflow 22" x 4"dia resonator (that BRM uses) BNIB in case the headers and SRS exhaust is too loud/obnoxious for my taste.

Went to a Maxima Meet yesterday alot of guys had headers and exhaust on the 3.0 4th gens and wasnt bad at all, I cant wait to put my Full Cattman on think it is going to be Just the Right amount of sound...and heard a full Cattman on a 2001 with a 3 inch Cattman not bad either...at another meet in the past...

I pretty sure there will be a gain for the VQ30DE-K, since the VQ30DE shows gains in HP/Tq on Aaron's 4th gen....

Is that with a 2.5" or 3" exhaust? Same basic engine, DE-K has the 00VI intake.

+1
Yes, very definite gains with Cattman 3" on DE-K! Tons more when also paired with Cattman Y pipe + Fastcatt. Or headers instead

Are you running an OEM catback? You never removed your previous 3" Cattman off your totalled Maxima?

Yeah I removed it off the totaled one, that was all I cared about was the Fastcat and Exhaust, all others can be replaced for cheap, I just got it in storage, and didn't have time to put it on in the same weekend....

I don't remember, but there are still a few spots to be filled. All I'm sayin is you don't need to put money down just yet and who knows when the next batch will be started. Get in line so boostmax and allmotormax can have theirs.

Why didn't you remove it B4 you sold it? That's alot of money and you could've simple installed a NAPA Bosal OEM replacement catback for about $250....

Cattman is the drug of choice with Maxima's. Consider it the Columbian blow of the Org.
