2000 HID Fog Light
2000 HID Fog Light
I was looking online for a write up on how to put HID's on my Fog Lights. I already have my ballast and H3 Bulbs for my fogs but I can't seem to find a write up on how this is done. I tried today but failed epicly. For some reason, the "Search" feature on here is not working for me, I get timed out everytime I try to search that is why I am asking on here for a direct link for a write up on Fog Light HID's. The fog bulbs are H3 and my HID's are H3's but there is a spare connection and I'm not too sure where it goes. Any information on this would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is where I bought mine 2 years ago... looks like they still have them here. In fact, I believe these worked better with the 5.5 gen than HIDtech capsules did. Plus, they cost 9 bucks.
Scroll down the page, second product (9003 balloon capsule).
I have pictures of how they look, but I can't post them while I'm at work.

Well now that I really think of it, The lens on my fog lights are already yellow. They don't look that bright because the bulbs on the fogs are those clear/blue ones. I should just change my bulbs to the Yellow H3 Xenon Bulbs, I hope those make my fogs look brighter. It's too much of a hassle to go HID as I read on the link Ghost posted.

No rust, no shatter, no moisture. Although, you can't half-*** the fabrication to get them in either... gotta be done right.

And a word of caution, yellow light projects less and is less bright than white light. Trading white light behind the yellow lens for yellow light behind a yellow lense will, in theory, create a dimmer, yellower appearance. Unless, of course, the yellow bulb is a much higher wattage than the white.
the H3/9006 capsules were really only widely available from HIDtech for $40 and a lengthy email process. That is why I went with the H4/9003 capsules in the link above... they were cheaper and easier to get a hold of.
Also, I think they worked better in the 02 max because the foglight housing is shorter than in the 5th gen.

I won't pretend to be an expert on light, as I left the physics of it back in college. However, there is a thread somewhere on here where someone who seemed knowledgeable explained why yellow lenses will never look as bright as projected yellow light.

hooray for another $70 thrown to the trash. Can't argue with it though, I love my Maxima!
