Do you mean lean? A leak would lean it out, since the incoming air is unmetered.

And you're gonna have to provide a lot more info. If you're getting a lean code, it could be from one of a few problems.

my car isnt running lean i burn gas worse than f250. i figured it would make it run rich since there is more air and then the car would dump more gas to compensate for the air. but your making since about it not being monitored. i have had problems with my car since i bought it. running rich and misfiring and bogging down. i was getting a maf code so i changed the maf now i have a cly 5 misfire, ignition primary. so i change the coil, still runs bad. while i was massing with the coil i noticed a hissing noise somewhere behind the intake and i noticed it inside my car for a long time but i just thought it was my RAI making the noise. i just about had it with this car and all these stupid little problems that cost an arm and a leg

Bad injector(s) is my guess and maybe plugs with it. The codes don't always represent the actual problem. In fact, unless a sensor/part completely fails, don't count on the code being correct haha.
How old are the plugs? Even if they were new before, you're going to need to change them from running so rich, imo. IM leak is probably more of nuisance than anything at this point.

It can make it run lean.

Does your car pop and sputter sometimes when the engine is cold? Does it even shut off sometimes? Those are a few signs. If you have a 2000 maxima with high miles I recomend change it.

Go to the dealership and ask for the upper plenum gasket and the EGR gasket. Change both. Even if thats not the problem, it's gonna go bad soon anyways.

Did you kill the maf? Intakes routinely kill mafs for some reason even if the filters are unoiled. Please, quit whoring, now.

Im thinkin I may have killed it. It will bog down when you floor it. I guess that is somewhere to start. Along with a dry filter and not this oiled one. Correct me if I am wrong but oil filters are bad for your MAF's right?

Usually only when they're over oiled. But I've arguments from both sides of the track on this issue. When's the last time you oiled it?

Get some MAF cleaner while you are there to buy a new filter.

I just got some MAF cleaner for now. The original problem has mysteriously disappeared. Maybe my car just needed to get use to the intake? No clue. Im probably still gonna get a new MAF here soon. Just to be sure.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

Well here what i have found after cleaning my MAF. Still same problems. Boggy and slow and very very low MPG. So new MAF is on the way. Short Ram Intake possible? Who's got a favorite?
